New to CPAP, thanks and question?

I am new to CPAP therapy, I t received an M Series Plus C-flex and humidifier on 11/28/07. I called my DME and. I told them that I wanted an Auto CPAP machine and was told they could not do it unless my doctor prescribed it. I called my doctor and told them I wanted an M Series Auto CPAP with CFlex and was told ok that they would call DME and ok it. A week went by and I did not hear from DME. So I called my doctor again and they told me they had called the prescription over and would do so again. I then received a call from the DME and was told he received call from doctor regarding machine I wanted and was told 1) not really necessary as I had had sleep study done and machine was only if I did not have sleep study to determine setting, 2) sometime we (patients) want sometime we do not need or not necessary, 3) my insurance would not cover and that he did not know if they could as they had basically had no one asked for one before as everyone. I basically told him, that I wanted machine if I did not get Auto CPAP machine I would return present machine and have doctor give me my prescription because I knew there was a provider who would give me what I wanted. DME told me would get back to me. I got a called less then 10 minutes that they would be shipping me the M Series Auto CPAP w/Flex and my insurance would pay for machine.
I would like to thank everyone who has posted on this site both in regards to answering questions by other newbie’s, and other exchanges of information amongst members. It has given my many answers to many questions I had regarding CPAP therapy.
With this valuable information in hand, I was able to request the type of machine/equipment that I wanted as an informed CPAP patient. I was able to tell provider why I wanted the Auto Cflex in an informed manner. Again thanks.

Now for my question
I asked for an Auto M Series C-flex. I was sent M Series A Flex, set in C-flex mode. Should I reset to A-Flex?
What are the pros and cons of C-flex over A-flex?

Depends on whether you are running in Auto mode. A-flex works like C-flex in Auto mode. C-flex does not work in Auto mode. If you are running in Auto mode then you want it in A-flex.

If you have an Auto, you can run it in EITHER Aflex or Cflex mode. You can also run it in Auto mode or straight CPAP mode. You will have to decide what mode works for you. (And you can also turn on Ramp or not, and....)

Me, I prefer straight CPAP w/cflex. Most forum users prefer the Aflex. I'm different.

If you do Auto, keep your numbers narrow. 9-20 is TOO FREAKIN' WIDE. Don't do it. Try something like 9-12 max.
