Remstar Pro CPAP w/Cflex questions

Post by busman317 » Tue Mar 22, 2005 2:29 pm

Hi all,
What a great forum! I have been reading this forum for a couple of weeks now and during this time have had my sleep study and within a week met with the DME and received my Remstar. I am using a setting of 10.

After the first 2 nights of wondering if my humidifier was working I found out that if the unit or air is not turned on within 20 minutes after the heater has been activated, then the humidifier automatically shuts off. Well, that explains the horrible dry mouth that I had. So last night, night 4, I had some wonderful warm air.

Now the question is...since I am an open mouth sleeper/snorer I have the Ultra Mirage FFM but I feel as though the unit has been shutting down or not delivering the same pressure through the night. I sometimes think my breathing has gotten so shallow that the unit waits for an exhale and doesn't sense one then doesn't deliver the next blast. But, this seems to contradict what the C-flex is for. Well, I would love some input on this to put my mind at ease.

It has been awhile since I got any sleep so any that I am getting is wonderful. I do feel more energized. I am also getting the whistling sound that some have complained about. It seems to go away after about 10-20 minutes of use. Seems nuts to have any whistling at all. It does seem to come from the elbow apparatus.

Well this is a long enough post for now. Still trying to get used to all this. I am finding some excellent advice here...keep up the good work.

Hi busman and welcome

Obviously not possible to be certain (especially from the other side of the Atlantic ) but I'd be a little surpised if the machine is not delivering the pressure and it's most likely just a case of getting used to it. I certainly remember all sorts of strange sensations during my first few weeks of use, when I was using a different brand (ie without c-flex) set at 10cm.

The fact that you are feeling better must be a good sign too
