Hi,
I am 42 years old and started CPAP a little over a month ago. Pretty much immediately I started experiencing numbness in my extremities, usually my arms, when I wake up. I am a side sleeper, but I know it's not from lying on them because it often occurs in the arm I am not lying on, or in both arms. I found some reason online to think it might be due to hyperventilating in my sleep, and that I might need a pressure adjustment, but yesterday I met with my sleep doctor and she said my breathing rate wasn't high. It only occurs first thing in the morning, but today it is lingering into the afternoon, so now I am alarmed enough to make this post. I don't think it is carpal tunnel, as I don't really do any repetitive tasks, it came on suddenly when I started CPAP, and it is typically only in the morning. Any ideas that are consistent with these patterns? My sleep doctor and general practitioner are both at a loss.
Numbness in Extremities
Re: Numbness in Extremities
I have been on this and 2 other CPAP message boards for over 15 years and have never heard this problem before.
