Put it in the landfill??
Put it in the landfill??
I have a RemStarPro M Series CPAP that was used for approx 14 years almost every night. It still runs, but now I have a new machine after new sleep study. Is it destined for the landfill or are there other ways to dispose of it usefully?
Also have a good number of unopened Fisher & Paykel foam and silicone FlexiFit masks (HC407). Anybody have use for them?

Re: Put it in the landfill??
First of all, with very few exceptions, any mask can be used with any machine. You don't need to change your mask!
Re: Put it in the landfill??
Yes, but Ive changed to a nose pillow mask with excellent results and no longer need the others.
Re: Put it in the landfill??
In the US I don't believe you are allowed to put it in a land fill.
You are required to give it to an electronics recycler, and they may charge you to take it. I know I have several dead microwave ovens and I think they want to charge me $10 each to take them off my hands.

Re: Put it in the landfill??
This is correct. The recycler will usually extract and separate the metals within an electronic device and dispose of or recycle depending on the metal. Metals like lead and mercury (some switches will contain mercury) they want to prevent from getting into the ground and eventually to water supplies. My towns recycling center charges $10 for most small electronic devices. Occasionally nearby towns will have an 'electronics day' where they take stuff at no charge.bwexler wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 7:20 pmIn the US I don't believe you are allowed to put it in a land fill.

I live in a high tax city, but they allow you to use the city dump for free.

Thanks you all. Appreciate the info.

Best Buy will take electronics for recycling. Take it in to them.

Do you have a backup machine, if not use it as your backup.
