giving a used CPAP to someone with a different clinic?
several I was issued an airsense 10 autoset by my sleep clinic. it was malfunctioning, and they issued me a new one but wouldn't take the old one. they told me to keep it or find a place to recycle it.
I kept it And opened it up and found the faulty lead and soldered it And it's working again. Someone I know was prescribed a CPAP but it will cost them 1600 out of pocket going through their insurance, or they can buy From the same company without going through the insurance for a little over 900 out of pocket.
my units were reporting my results to My clinic.
My question is this. can I give them my Old unit and they have it configured to report their results to their clinic? is this controlled by the sd card? or is it similar to cell phones that haber to be "unlocked" in order to switch which clinic gets the data?

ResMed's don't send data to any particular clinc (or Doctor), they send the data to ResMed and then Clinics (or Doctors) access the Devices.
This access is not patient (or SD Card) configurable.
Perhaps your friend can provide their Dr with the serial number of the ResMed and then they can get access.

so it is assigned at resmed? would My clinic have to release it before their clinic could gain access?

I don't know. What you are asking about is not very common as "second hand" devices just isn't a supported distribution method.FlanMaster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 1:55 pmso it is assigned at resmed? would My clinic have to release it before their clinic could gain access?
But, there have been many people who have bought used machines and tried to use them to access MyAir. Virtually all posts that inquire how to change a machine association have never been successful. That's generally not a problem around here because most here self-manage and MyAir isn't important.

From what I have heard from others who got used machines like yours...the original DME/clinic has to release the old used machine in order for someone to register it with MyAir.FlanMaster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 1:55 pmso it is assigned at resmed? would My clinic have to release it before their clinic could gain access?
It's all tied to serial numbers and email addresses I believe.
You can try registering the machine to another email address and see if MyAir will let it go through or not.

"Recycling" does not necessarily mean not repairing it first.
I think you are in the clear, as long as your friend gets an sd card
to put in the machine and then take straight to their provider,
If they are willing to pull data off the card.
Or get Oscar, and a computer if it's hopeless to do the Myair thing.

If you are in the US and want to give the machine to your friend, you can.
You can show your friend how to put it in airplane mode, so it won't be reporting any data over the air.
Your friend can put in an SD card and use it to report to his clinic IF required. If insurance isn't paying for it, there's no need to report compliance data. If the clinic helps him with his settings, that's what the efficacy data on the SD card can be used for. If the clinic can't access data on the SD card, your friend can use a program available here to download the information. But if the only interest your friend's clinic has in data is to report to the insurer so they will pay for the machine (and it sounds like they won't pay for it anyway), then there's no need to share the data with them.
If you are in another country, it depends on the laws where you are.

And, in any country, they cannot know what you do not tell them.
Unless they have bed checks where your friend lives . . .

Only thing I can think of is offering the SD card at the docs office to get insurance involved in covering masks/hoses etc.

Re: giving a used CPAP to someone with a different clinic?
I would disconnect the modem cable. Any one can use it. Install one SD card so the doctor can get the data when he/she is going to visit the doctor. I bought one used AirSense-10 auto set, I disassembled it to clean and not using the modem.FlanMaster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 1:40 pmseveral I was issued an airsense 10 autoset by my sleep clinic. it was malfunctioning, and they issued me a new one but wouldn't take the old one. they told me to keep it or find a place to recycle it.

Does internally disconnecting the modem remove the nag message
that comes up during airplane mode?

Your friend can check with his/her insurer to see if they require COMPLIANCE data to cover supplies. They might not.Only thing I can think of is offering the SD card at the docs office to get insurance involved in covering masks/hoses etc.
If your friend has a helpful doctor who can use the EFFICACY data to help dial in more optimal therapy, there is a reason to share the data with that doctor. Otherwise, why bother?

Re: giving a used CPAP to someone with a different clinic?
You received a variety of answers. But, they should have asked you a question first. Why is there a need or desire for your friend to report to their clinic? Once this question is answered, a more targeted answer can be given.FlanMaster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 1:40 pmcan I give them my Old unit and they have it configured to report their results to their clinic?

Re: giving a used CPAP to someone with a different clinic?
the clinic uses the online Data, presumably so the patients don't have to remember to bring in the card every visit.
Regardless, it seems clear that there's a possibility that my clinic would need to remove the device from their list if it's still registered to them through resmed. I've got a call in to my clinic.
