F30 masks - are the seals fragile?
Partner has been using a Resmed F30 mask for six months. Had to replace the seal (cushion) twice due to tears(see photo)
In contrast a F&P full face cushion is still going strong after 18+ months.
Are these F30 seals more fragile?

I've been using the same cushion for 19 months. Partner should review the cleaning, storing and luggage-packing procedures.

Yeah, that's what I thought also, but seeing as how I'm the one doing that stuff.... Washed with warm Dawn h20 and rinsed clean every other day, not been packed in luggage.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 1:55 pmI've been using the same cushion for 19 months. Called DME for replacement and was told that Medicare will cover a new mask every month, as Resmed recommends replacement every 30 days. (can't find that in the users manual)

In case you haven't seen it or didn't know about it...below is the Medicare allowed replacement schedule.
Now this doesn't mean that you have to replace something this often but it is what Medicare allows or will pay for.
Most people can get a lot longer lifespan and Medicare actually wants you to use something until it is no longer usable to you.
I don't use nor have I ever used any full face mask but I used some form of nasal pillow for years and years and I always got months and months of use out of one nasal pillow...and Medicare allows 2 per month. Go figure that one.
So I can't comment on lifespan of the cushion but most people can use the cushions on a full face mask for many months.
Maybe you just were unlucky and got a bad batch result.

Re: F30 masks - are the seals fragile?
First Q, does Resmed recommend replacement of the F30 cushion every 30 days- or is the DME fibbing?
Comment: The broken “split” silicone cushions were obtained at different times from different dealers, however it is possible each came from the same manufacturing batch. If so doesn’t speak well for Resmed’s manufacturing standards.

Kinda depends on where you live what ResMed recommends monthly for cushionsApplecheeks wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 6:01 pmFirst Q, does Resmed recommend replacement of the F30 cushion every 30 days- or is the DME fibbing?
https://www.resmed.com/en-us/sleep-apne ... -supplies/
and if you are in Asia they recommend every 6 months
https://ap.resmed.com/knowledge/how-oft ... sk-cushion
Funny how the advised replacement time coincides with Medicare allowance time frame....don't you think???
It's a cash cow for ResMed and DMEs....I wonder why the difference between USA and Asia....oh wait...they probably don't have Medicare over there. Most insurance in the US follow Medicare guidelines as to their replacement allowance schedule as well.
Technically the DME isn't fibbing but they certainly aren't telling the whole truth either.
Now the AirTouch cushions which are more like memory foam and not silicone....those won't last months and months but with some common sense care people can get 2 or 3 months out of them. They can't be washed at all.
I suspect that years ago Medicare came up with their guidelines and the manufacturers of masks were happy to adopt the same schedule though I don't actually know who/what came first.

Thanks for the info!
Apparently the materials used in the remainder of the world are more durable. (Sarcastic alert!)
