myAir app update?

Post by Sleepingbaby » Fri Feb 19, 2021 4:11 pm

I received an email from Resmed to update myAir app to a Canadian version as of Feb 17.
When I sign in to my phone app I can nowhere find an "update" button as per the email instructions.
If I search the play store for a Canadian Resmed myAir - nothing pops up.
Yes I am Canadian living in Canada
Scam? or am I needing new glasses?
Thank you

Why don't you just call them?

Thank you.
Will have to see if I can locate a number or connect in the website. It is Friday 5.30pm and making supper so I will likely wait till Monday.
Was hoping a quicker answer from here than waiting for a phone chat.

Got the same email, as did a buddy of mine.

The email came in on an account that I only use for important information and I never receive SPAM on it.

I think it's just delayed. I'm not worried about it.

I also received the same email from Resmed, almost two weeks ago.

Target date for the update was supposed to be Feb 17 and still no "update" button either within the existing app, or a "myAir for Canada" app in the Play Store.

Took your suggestion and called their "consumer support" line: 1 (800) 424-0737

For "questions regarding myAir" you literally can't get a human on the line. The automated message tell yous to email them at myairsupport at resmed.com and they will get back to you within 2-3 business days.

Julie has this habit of telling people to "call" vendors, without concern that following her advice is nothing more that a huge effort in frustration and futility.

This has been explained to her in the past, but she doesn't care. She seems to think that the experience she had 40 years ago, is still relevant to when dealing with huge, modern-day, corporate mega-companies.

Update: the update is finally here. I literally just logged into myAir two minutes ago and it immediately showed me the "update" button.

The update button then opened up the Play Store app on my phone and provided me with the applicable choices of which app to upgrade or install.

The myAir for Canada app is a completely new installation.

I'll report back later with how it's working.

So far so good. The "myAir for Canada" app looks and feel exactly like the old myAir app on my phone, so I don't know why they needed us to do this. Perhaps it's a privacy thing for Canucks / they migrated the Canadian users' database to a different server located in Canada?

The old app does not get replaced or uninstalled, but I can no longer get into it, when I log in it just tells me that I need to update it before continuing, so I uninstalled it manually.

Update.
Thankyou for the email address. Trying to go through the website or app was annoying.
I got a reply within 24 hours to say they are working on it.
This morning it was available and I did the update. Do not see where can select the French option - but not looked much yet.
When I went to delete the old one I remove the new one. Both icons are exactly the same and their placement on my phone did not give a clue as to which was which.
After repeating the update I got the correct one deleted and wrote them back that it was annoying.

The old solutions were to always phone in a problem. Now with all the technology and being able to converse with others the problem can be solved quicker or get more options.

Thank you for all the insights I have received reading this board.

Yeah, I don't see what changed. The email said that the new app would have a French option... The previous one also had French so, like you said, it's probably simply a regional server thingy or something...

Re: myAir app update? Out of Country (Canada)

Post by Yargwen » Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:35 am

Last night ( 26 feb 2021) myAir forced me to update the app. An issued occurred because I'm not in Canada at the moment. When I pressed update it took me to the wrong Google play store which didn't have the Canadian app.

To get the proper app, I had to do the following:
* VPN to Canada (there are many options here I used a very popular one),
* go to my android apps (under settings) and selected google play
* force stop google play
* select storage data and clear the data.
* restart google play store
* download and install the app

Hope this helps fellow travelers.
