What setting to adjust breathing sensitivity?

Post by foo » Tue Feb 09, 2021 10:19 pm

It's been a while since I used my Aircurve, and I don't remember what setting I can use to adjust how it reacts to my breathing.
It makes me feel like it's taking my breath away or forcing me to breath at an unnatural pace.

If someone can toss me a reminder as to what setting(s) to look at and how they adjust the reactions to it, I'd appreciate it.

It's not, that's your imagination... the machine *PURELY* follows your breathing pattern, just relax, ignore it, and breathe normally.

Are you sure about that? I was recently titrated for a bipap/bilevel and at some point in the night they changed a setting that was cutting off my inhale time and I wasn't getting full breaths. I have looked at the Clinician manual for an S9 Vpap auto and their is a setting called TiControl that would appear to be able to do this. I havent tried to duplicate this on my S9 yet and I dont have a Clinician manual for the Op's machine and could be wrong.

I did some research and came up with some answers that have quickly made an impact concerning the comfort level of my breathing.

Trigger: Changed it from Medium to High : The machine now adjusts more quickly to changes of direction in my breathing.

Ti Max: Changed it from 2.0s to 3.0s : It now allows for my breathing in or out to continue past 2s.

Those two settings now allow my breathing to me more natural. I no longer have the feeling of shortness of breath nor overly full lungs.

Hope that helps someone else.

That's great! I suspect the problem you experienced was the same as mine during titration. It was hard for me to get my breath when the machine was cutting my inhale off.

No, I make this stuff up as I go.

TiMax only affects inhalation (that's the i in Ti). No matter what TiMax is set to, you can exhale .... forever, and the machine won't switch to IPAP.

I too set TiMax higher on my machine.
Sorry I misunderstood what you were asking.
