Taking off mask at night (without knowing it)

Post by ecmacman12 » Sun Jan 05, 2020 2:06 pm

For some reason recently, I have been taking off my mask at night without knowing it.

I had been using my CPAP for months with no issues before this recent occurence.

Any ideas into possible causes for this? I'm going to see if I can adjust the fit a bit differently, but it's felt fine before I go to sleep every night.

Thanks in advance!

Could the headgear be getting stretched out?
There needs to be a bit of "give" for comfort and fit at the same time.
Pain could be making you shuck it in the middle of the night.

I've gone through a period of this as well. Turned the machine off, took off the mask, went back to sleep with no recollection - nor any events on Oscar to indicate something going on. Went on for several weeks. Bought a video camera to watch myself sleeping - someone here suggested "Wyze Cam" which was only $25. Felt very strange, indeed, setting it up the first night, knowing I'd be watching myself. But playing the recording back, I did fall asleep and I did in fact, sit up, take the mask off, turn the machine off, go right back to sleep. Didn't remember a thing. I didn't do anything odd. I've never sleep-walked or anything.

So never did find out why I was doing this! After a couple weeks of recording myself doing the same thing, I stopped using tge camera to watch myself sleep. I now have it mounted outside (bought a weatherproof skin) and I watch the dogs when they're hanging around the dog house. It is a security camera, can use it anywhere, just happens to be cheap. I also have a Nest Camera outside, they work the same only Nest is a lot more expensive.

I stopped the behavior of taking the mask off during the night, don't know why. Alien CPAP phenomenon?
