Rash/hives/bumps from CVS cervical collar

Post by Sluggish » Sun Sep 16, 2018 4:50 pm

Anyone else ever have this problem?
Took about 2 weeks to appear. Hives and itchy bumps along jawline. Can’t imagine what else it might be from.
Any ideas how to stop it?

Antihistamines? But be careful as the nondrowsy kind will keep you from sleeping. Talk to a pharmacist and see if the collars come in a different fabric, or make a cover from T-shirt material if you know that won't bother you.

I rolled a sock over it. Standard cotton blend Hanes.
Hoping I’m not allergic to that too. We’ll see how it goes.

How tight are you adjusting the collar? It only needs to be adjusted to the point that your chin doesn't slide below the top of the collar. I can easily slide my hand between the collar and my neck. Try adjusting the collar loosely.

On another point, make sure to wash your face and neck with a sensitive skin soap before going to bed. Cetaphil and CeraVe make good non-comedogenic soaps.
