Hybrid problem...anyone else?
My Hybrid is leaking air from just above where the hose attached. For whatever reason, the piece feels loose. If I push it up, the air stops, if I let go, it hisses again. Very aggravating. Anyone else have this problem? Here's a pic to give you an idea:

Try some plumbers teflon tape to tighten it up.
This has been discussed here before, maybe a search of
this site will help. Or maybe someone who experienced this will chime in..

It is actually the swivel that leaks. I wrapped teflon tape several times around the area and then twisted with my hand to break the swivel loose again and it solved the problem. Someone else mentioned wrapping thick thread around between the two pieces and that solved it also. PM me if you need a picture or better explanation.

I would not try to take that swivel apart. I believe those other fixes work well with a swivel that comes apart using a snap ring, like at the face of a mask.
When my hybrid started leaking there I put a large diameter hair scrunchy on the groove. That keeps the two parts just a little bit more snug and stopped the leak for me. I did try a few sizes to get on that was not too tight.

I never took it apart. In fact, I don't think it is possible to get it apart. I just wrapped the center with teflon tape tape, which of course stopped the swivel action, but then just twisted it to break the teflon tape and it has stayed sealed since.sinkem wrote:I would not try to take that swivel apart. I actually just talked to respcare about getting the gray headgear. I mentioned the swivel issue and apparently that part is not replaceable, so she's looking into sending me a whole new mask. In the meantime, plumbers tape it is.

I think they must have misunderstood you, bacause the part that leaks is actually removable and certainly replaceable. I assume they must have thought it was the swivel where it attaches as part of the mask.ejdischer wrote:I actually just talked to respcare about getting the gray headgear. I am mistaken. They do not have the piece as a replacement. I just talked with the product manager at Teleflex Medical and she is sending me a whole new mask and return shipping box to return the defective one so they can try to figure out where the problem is. I gotta say that this company knows what customer service is all about. I know it it took them forever to get the headgear right, but they have certainly done right by me.

I spoke to a rep from teleflex earlier. They're sending me the new gray headgear immediately. She left me a message while I was in the food store(why don't cell phones work in my food store...arggghhh) and said that they're going to send me a new mask and to call on Monday. AWESOME!!! I'm still gonna go with the Opus but at least I'll have a more comfortable Hybrid between the headgear and non leaking swivel thing.

I have three Hybrid masks. One is still in an unopened box. The other two both leak at the swivel. The leaks are very small compared to the amount of air coming out of the vent ports. I don't think they cause my prescribed pressure to drop.
So I just ignore the leaks and the leak on one of the masks has actually gone away. I am willing to "put up" with some things if I am getting good therapy.

I don't have a problem "putting up" with things, but the noise is really annoying. For me, the vents make noise, but it's constant and at the same level at all times. When the swivel leaks, it makes noise, then it stops, then it starts. It just makes it harder for me to sleep.
