Hi all,
My most recent sleep study (2017) came back negative for sleep apnea. This study was performed at a different clinic than the first two studies I had.
The first two studies I had done (2011, 2014) diagnosed sleep apnea. The most recent study (2014) detected 17 Apnea–hypopnea index- which diagnosed me in the moderate range.
Because this most recent sleep study came back negative, I'm trying to see what steps I can take. My sleep doctors still believe the study didn't detect it. They said it was possible I slept in a specific position that night. Or they said that maybe I had RERA's that night- which would be qualified as an apnea but would still disturb sleep.
Hm. Trying to see what I can do to help improve my sleep, perhaps I should get another study done if I can get it through insurance? As mentioned in another thread, I've still felt fatigued, and am trying to get to the bottom of why that is so I can improve my energy as much as possible. Thanks a lot, everyone!

Your doctor is likely right on this.
I am wondering whether you have assesses tongue size based on the Friedman tongue position chart? See picture in the link:

My sleep surgeon once told me that most of the CPAP failure he had seen were due to large tongue base.

Forget tongue size (for now anyhow) but PLEASE go back to your previous posts of ? 10 days ago - you got lots of replies but never went back to comment or acknowledge those. Stick with one thread so we can meaningfully help... we're not going to dig all over to do that though.
Re: Most Recent Sleep Study Came Back Negative
Please ask your doctor for a copy of your detailed sleep study report. It should be a few pages with info like sleep positions and sleep stages. If you happened to have little REM sleep, or little supine sleep, or little supine sleep while in REM, your study may not have been able to capture your worst case scenario. If you find this to be reflected in your report, you might not want to just accept that you don't have OSA.

The OP didn't say whether (s)he was using CPAP prior to the study and, if so, which model.
If so, I think (s)he should continue to use it; for now. If it's one that generates stats, (s)he'll need to look at the stats.
