I officially belong here!
I'll try and figure out how to post pictures later but I was diagnosed today with severe sleep apnea. My overall AHI was 34.8 . Supine was 53.3 AHI mostly OH. On my side I only had AHI of 3. This is from just 3.6 hours of sleep. I was only in REM for 5% of time.

I think I might be one of the few who is happy and excited about this diagnosis, I have been so exhausted and run down for a while now and this offers hope of feeling better again lol

Me, too!
I kind of figured it out myself beforehand.
The official dx meant I could finally get relief!
It was both better and worse than expected--more better as time passed.

Agree, I was really happy to get the diagnosis and start treatment for SA. And it's paying off, I am 8 months into, and still and noticing things that improve. This week I am feeling even more rested, and I would have said I felt great a week ago. One thing I have noticed in addition to the typical stuff is a massive increase in my daily feelings of optimism. Life just feels better.

Actually, it's not an unusual way to feel. There is a measure of comfort in knowing the likely cause of many of our symptoms, and that it's treatable.USMCVet wrote:I think I might be one of the few who is happy and excited about this diagnosis, I have been so exhausted and run down for a while now and this offers hope of feeling better again lol
Good luck in getting the right machine and set up. I would offer some encouragement about sticking with the machine through the accustomation period, but if you are anything like my (Marine Veteran) daughter, perseverance will not be an issue.

To quote one of our old members, "I bid you sad welcome".
But, attitude is all, and you can appreciate that you are going to feel much better once you get the hang of it. Give it the Marine effort and you will soon have success.

Re: I officially belong here!
I was definitely happy for the diagnosis and very excited when I picked up my machine at the DME. I knew it meant I finally had a cause for my chronic fatigue and was starting on the road to feeling better. My respiratory therapist said attitude is the most important factor in treatment compliance, and people with a positive attitude towards therapy are exponentially more likely to stay on it. Sounds like you have chosen the right frame of mind to start your journey.
