I don't like photobucket and now use Imgur. At the time it was the only one i was aware of and I saw others use it.
Anyway, my links still work.

actually, they don't, first, because they're on photobucket, and secondly, you did them wrong.lanco wrote:I don't like photobucket and now use Imgur. At the time it was the only one i was aware of and I saw others use it.

Yep, I see my images have been replaced with:

Re: a great reason not to use photobucket.
Photobucket is apparently doing its best to get out of business. The site has become useless without the upgraded subscriptions with more spam ads than a free porn site. Even if you wanted to use them, you'd have to penetrate the ads to get a membership, just so you could subject all your friends to more ads. I used PB for many years, but they don't have anything I can't replace...bye bye!

I have not added anything new for a very long time.
I will probably just let that stuff die.

Actually, I've seen that you can burn diamond... so even they aren't forever.

Just spent 2 hours last nite, deleting my uploads to the site, maybe when they sell their servers for scrap, they will really be deleted. Jimchunkyfrog wrote:I have not added anything new for a very long time.

Apparently links to images will still work but we can't embed the images in posts anymore. The links still work because they force you to go to Photobucket website so that they can force the ads on you. Do they really think we don't know that?
When I have some free time I am going to move the important stuff to imgur and just delete the stuff that really isn't critical.
It used to be a nice place to use but hasn't been for quite some time due to the number of ads that hog up the site resources when trying to load an image. And now they want money for something they used to offer for free...ain't gonna happen.

Yeah, the posts can be edited to remove the image code modifiers and then they will appear as links, but then, as you say, they take you to the site where the ads make them unusable.Pugsy wrote:Apparently links to images will still work but we can't embed the images in posts anymore. I did download all my photos and they come in a Zip file so it doesn't take too long. I haven't extracted them, but I assume they will be fine and once extracted could be uploaded to another site.

Thanks for the tips. I mostly used it for my crafts blog but haven't added anything recently. Still want the photos though.
