Hi, new user and new CPAP owner..

Post by lwood » Wed Sep 20, 2006 7:14 pm

Just got my machine about a week ago, still having a hard time getting used to it, but I've noticed results almost immediately.

I'm a mouth breather, and couldnt handle the chinstrap so I ended up with a full face mask, seems to work ok, but I keep pulling it off in my sleep..

Hope to get to know ya'll while I get used to this new way of sleeping

-Lenny

Hiya Lenny
A good thing to fill out is your profile... mask and machine etc.

The group here is great, a lot of different personalities from all over. Some have a lot of experience and some, just starting.

Welcome Lenny -

cflame1 is right ... you can get quicker more direct answers to your questions if you fill out your profile.

As you read thru the posts you will discover that interfaces (masks) are the most difficult part of getting into the CPAP groove. Most have tried many and have a small collection of both good backups and useless plastic.

There are some buttons up near the top of the page ... FAQ - has some good links to specific topics; CPAPopedia is a glossary of CPAP terminology; and there is a search button at the very top of the page (be sure to click the posts radio button at the bottom of the search page when making a search).

BTW - I'm here in Austin too.

Take care and best of dreams ...

Hey lwood - welcome, from Memphis...hang in there, the first few weeks can be both rewarding and frustrating - they key is getting through them. It will take awhile to get use to being strapped to the machine - but trust me, in time you won't be able to sleep without it. This forum, and all the people here, are the best - and have some great advice. Don't be afraid to ask - while it can seem at times that you are the only one having a particular issue - someone else here has had it too - and can hopefully help you see the light at then end of the tunnel. Just take one breath after another and soon enough you'll be sleeping like a log....
