Hi fellow cpapers. I have been on CPAP for 7 1/2 years 7 of which I haven't been
the humidifier. I live on the rainy west coast with high humidity. I have not
had any nasal infections or issues from lack of the humidifier. The respirologist
that sold me the machine didn't think it was a good idea not to use the
humidifier. Are they many people out there don't use the humidifier?
Thanks Jim

Re: Humidifier
Like you I went several years without using my humidifier. I've always had severe dry mouth issues, but I learned to live with it. I started using my humidifier in the "passover mode", and my dry mouth issues improved. I bumped the humidifier setting to a one, and my dry mouth has almost disappeared. My nasal passages seem to also be clearer. That's my story... hope it helps.

Re: Humidifier
I am like Sheriff Buford,I used CPAP/and BiLevel for about 16 years before a new doctor just insisted that I have a humidifier for my trusty old Respironics BiPAP Plus machine. From the first night I ever used it, I was completely sure that I responded better with added humidity. That was about 12 years ago, and I never activate my machine unless the heated humidifier is running. My present machine is a DeVilbiss with user selectable heat settings from OFF to 10, and I presently use a setting of 6 at all times. I experience much better breathing and far less nasal congestion. And I ignore my geographic surroundings-I formerly traveled a lot and I used my same humidity settings wherever I went-Arizona or South Carolina Coast.
