I've been using cpap for 5 months now using a dreamwearer mask. I like the style and fit and it seems to work fairly well for me. I have nothing to compare it to though. At times, I do think it leaks around my cheeks. Usually turning my head, shifting the pillow or moving the mask corrects it. Most times, it less that I feel the leak, but hear it. Oddly, the leak noise is a whistle type noise coming from the relief vent at the top of the strap where it connects to the hose. I can press on the mask and the whistle goes away, left off and it returns until I shift, move the pillow or mask. Overall, minor complaints and easily dealt with. I mostly sleep on my stomach and side. My pressure is pretty low (7-14).
I'm thinking about trying something new. Mostly just to see what else is out there and how it works for me. I'm pretty sure I don't need a full face mask. I am leaning towards the Swift Fx Nano. I'm not sure how I'd like a pillow style with nozzles up my nose. Could be great, but seems like it would be uncomfortable. Otherwise I'd try the Fx Nasal Pillow or P10. I'd like to try both styles, but not interested enough to put out $$ for two new mask when the one I have is acceptable. But I would like to have a back up and would like to see what else is out there. I suppose I can try one and exchange through the DME if it's completely wrong for me. I believe my insurance will cover the majority of the cost.
Any suggestions on what to try?

When a nasal pillow mask is fitted and sized properly the only part of the nasal pillow touching you is the outer rim of the pillow and it only touches the outside of the nostril. Those inner cones that go just a tiny bit up into the nostril don't ever touch anything (or shouldn't). So you don't feel them.
If you get the Swift FX Nano....the Swift FX nasal pillow will fit on the Nano headgear.
Send me a note and I will give you a brand new unused Swift FX nasal pillow to try so that you can try 2 masks for the price of one.

Very generous of you Pugsy, I appreciate it. I will get in touch with my DME and see about picking up a Nano. I'll get with you after I take care of that.Pugsy wrote: Send me a note and I will give you a brand new unused Swift FX nasal pillow to try so that you can try 2 masks for the price of one.
Re: Mask options similar to dreamwear
I tried the Dreamwear for a couple months - sort of at the request of my DME because they wanted feedback on it. I had requested pillows. It looked and felt good for the few minutes I tried it there so I agreed, but over the course of a night, it got worse and worse. It was loud to start with running so close to the ears, but the constant leaks sounded like airplanes landing in my bedroom. It also stretched over the course of the night, which was the reason for the constant leaks.
Though my first experience with pillows wasnt great (during my sleep study, and the direct air injection was really unnerving), I now LOVE them. I use the ResMed Airfit p10. Same around the head type strap, but it's cloth - which also stretches some, but is much more manageable and adjustable. And the tube is in front rather than on top. I liked the top configuration, but it was just too loud for me.

Re: Mask options similar to dreamwear
I was able to get a Swift Nano Fx. I tried it last night. The fit is similar to the dreamwear. It feels more secure around my nose but a little less comfortable. The air pressure also feels the same as far as breathing in and out. I don't use any pressure relief or whatever it's called. Having the hose in front of my face instead of on top of my head was different, but really wasn't an issue. Not having the air supply flowing through the head gear as it does with the dreamwear, it was quieter. I could still hear myself breathing, but it seems louder with the dreamwear because the air is passing through the mask running up your face. I think I may have had the mask too tight, my nose was sore when i woke up. Also, this was the first time I've had rain out. I ended up with a small amount of water collected in the mask. I use auto on humidity and have a heated hose. I also notice that one side on my nose was slightly congested in the morning and typically I have zero congestion with the dreamwear, which is a big change for me prior to CPAP. Not that I can make a decision after one night, so I'll keep trying it out for a week or so and make a decision.
