Interesting Portable Battery Option on Amazon for $120

Post by remstarcpap » Tue Sep 27, 2016 3:04 pm

Hi all,

Just saw this come up on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger ... B01LCFS9S6

Specs from page:

POWERFUL 100W AC OUTPUT: Experience infinite versatility and power up smartphones, tablets, and even your 110V home appliances up to 100W - 0.9A.
Type-C 5V/3A & USB 5V/2.4A OUTPUTS: Benefit from 1x Type-C 3A output and 2x USB iSmart ports up to 2.4A each to simultaneously charge the latest Macbook and two other devices.
JUGGERNAUT 27000mAh CAPACITY: Charge your iPhone 6s up to 11 times, a Galaxy S7 up to 6 times, and the 12 "MacBook for over 3 times to minimize waiting time and boost DO time.
FAST CHARGING 19V/1.6A DC INPUT: Recharge the power bank faster than ever with the 19V/1.6A DC input and conveniently monitor the battery level via the 8 built-in LED indicators.
BUILT-IN AIR VENTS: Keep the power bank running smoothly with a set of vents that'll cool it down and won't let the dust in; turn the power bank on/off by holding the power button for 3 seconds and remember to turn it off to save precious juice when not in use.

This is a little less oomph than the one that some people have tried: https://www.amazon.com/Poweradd-Pilot-P ... 00DN0KBXU/ but has a 110 outlet on it. I don't know anything about it, and there's only one review, but there's also a coupon that makes the price $120. CG2U3Q38

Let us know if you get one, and how it works out.

It doesn't appear to have a 12v output, meaning that the inverter is the only way to power a cpap. The net amount of power is about half of the "32000" packs.

Portable Charger RAVPower 27000mAh Built-in AC Outlet Universal Power Bank Travel Charger (Type-C Port , Dual USB iSmart Ports , 19V/1.6A DC Input) For Macbook, Laptops, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus & More

It has 110 output! and yes, it has less power than a 32,000 pack!

stop sounding like a sales pitch.

where do you think that 110v ac comes from if not an inverter?

Here you go again....

No sales pitch, I have no affiliation with either Amazon or the company, but thought that some who have Resmed machines might find this interesting, as they might not want to deal with adapters, etc. You are correct, it's only advantage is the built in AC inverter, and it does not have 12 volt output.

here *I* go again? you're the one that posted the same thing twice, highlighting the 120v output, after CapnLoki pointed out the lack of 12v output necessitating the use of the inverter, which will be inherently less efficient due to the double voltage conversion, thus eating up even more of the already lower battery capacity.

Has anyone actually traveled with this to use for their CPAP? Hubby and I are planning a trip to Italy in the Spring. Is this a good battery? And how long (approx.) would a charge last for CPAP use?

I've never used this device (or, frankly, any of the similar devices) but I can say this from the specs: 27000 milliamp-hours of lithium power translates to 100 Watt hours (the FAA limit), which when converted to the 12v power used by your pump is 8 Amp-hours. Unfortunately it does not include a 12V output, so the power must be converted to 120V AC, and then to 12V DC with an efficiency of roughly 60%. The net result is about 5 amp-hours, which is often enough to run a pump for one night, without humidity or heated hose. You should try before leaving to make sure it works. (BTW, as I write this I'm trying to charge a smaller Ravpower pack that appears to be dead - make sure you check it out well before the trip. EDIT- Returned to Amazon and replacement appears to work.) Recharge time will be several hours, maybe 5 or more to fully top it off.

There are other, similar packs that have a usable 12V output that would allow running directly without going to AC power - this might run close to 2 nights.
