Chin strap trick

Post by ylikone » Sun Jan 30, 2005 10:23 pm

I used to have problems with occasionally opening my mouth while sleeping with my CPAP... I tried using a chin strap but it was never very comfortable for me. I figured out a cool trick which works great for me and my style of mask (Contour Classic). I basically cut the strap shorter from both ends, then looped it around the bottom side-straps of my mask. So, it is only going from one bottom strap to the other bottom strap under my chin (don't know if I'm created a clear picture of what I mean). Anyway, this keeps my mouth closed AND has the added benefit of pulling down on my bottom straps so that the mask doesn't ride up on my face, which is excellent for cutting down or eliminating "near-the-eye" air leaks.

Just wanted to share this, in case anybody else can find it useful.
