Machine placement on headboard

I wonder how many lonely people they fleece.
That is beyond sad, but pity does not make friends.

The main problem, as mentioned, is that with humidity, you increase your risk of rainout. When I was caring for my brother, I also had a headboard bookshelf and had it higher than my head. I had to take it off AUTO and set humidity to 1-2 and it was fine. The bigger problem was pulling the machine off the headboard. I got those 3M hook thingys and made a small sleeve for my hose and it held the hose on the hooks, preventing me from yanking the poor machine off a 3rd time. Getting hit in the head by your machine (not to mention the water, did not help me get a restful night of sleep. Why this was a problem with a headboard and not with a sidetable, I will never know.

Okay, back on topic. With my heated hose, I can get away with my machine just above my head.
I would never do it with an unheated hose. Just saying.
I love water--but not up my snoot.

I have been using a bookcase as my headboard and my machine sits on a shelf that is higher than my pillow. I use a hose hanger that carries the hose higher than the machine before it gets to me and I have not had any rainout. I like my air nice and humid too.

It could definitely work. I would suggest using a hose hanger to reduce the possibility of rainout. If the bed is wide for two persons then how would you reach the CPAP to fill the humidifier if standing on either side?

That's the thing about using cpap. You got to figure out what works for your situation. All you can do it try the shelf idea and see what happens with the humidity. It sounds like others have made it work above the bed.

Looks like I'll go "the longer hose and hanger above the center of the headboard" as a try. See how that goes.

Make sure the ten feet hose is compatible. My resmed only takes slimline tube. And I could not find the slimline hose in ten feet length

Use a power strip with a long cord. I think your primary limitation is where you can plug in. If you have a power strip with a long cord, that will make your life much easier. You don't need a longer hose - you just move the whole machine to the side you are sleeping on that night. No problem with filling on either side then. Yes, the heated hose helps A LOT with rainout, but I think the Hose Buddy or similar also solves the problem, if you don't have the option. Note: if you didn't get your unit with a heated hose, you may need to get the higher wattage power brick. It is bundled automatically if you got the heated hose; not so sure if heated hose wasn't included.

that is incorrect, *all* resmeds have settings for regular or slimline tube, the bilevels have settings for a 10 foot hose, since the extra length needs more compensation with a bilevel.

fyi, resmed doesn't cheap out and sell lower wattage power supplies, *all* s9 and air10 models are ready for a heated hose, whether you get one at first, or not.

When I am in my motorhome, the only place I can put my machine is on a shelf in the cupboard several feet above my head. Have never had rainout with this configuration and I DO use my humidifier. . I have no problem with filling the reservoir either, just take my humidifier out and fill it, replace it, hose up and go to sleep.
I would try having the machine above your head, it may just work fine.
