Urgent mask prob, help needed! Please, can you help?

Post by fremlin89@Gmail.com » Fri Apr 22, 2016 5:32 am

Hi, can anyone help me urgently?

I have an F&P Simplus f/f mask. I have just discovered that there is a tear on the flimsy nose-bridge part of the cushion. It's pretty bad and i don't know if it will hold on the night. My biggest problem is its 9:30 on Friday night of a holiday weekend (Monday is the holiday) and EVERYWHERE is closed until Tuesday.

Does anyone know if there's a way i can patch up the tear until Tuesday when i can get a new cushion? Or if there's anyone in hills district of Sydney that knows of somewhere open tomorrow that i can get a new cushion?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I don't know if that's something eBay or amazon can help with?
I think I read about someone else having this problem, but the mask didn't leak and was still use able. Although I imagine patching it up with some tape might be worth a shot?

I think I would be tempted to try a small piece of duct tape...

Things like this are why most of the experienced cpapers keep at LEAST one spare mask on hand at all times. Things can fail at the worst possible time, in the middle of the night, on a holiday weekend. That's why many of us have a backup machine, spare hoses, spare masks, battery backup, etc. I can not sleep at ALL without cpap and I know it.

It seems that your only option is what you can find in the house now or at the hardware store tomorrow. Something like duct tape or medical tape, like 3M Micropore might work for a temporary repair. Some packaging tape might work as well. I hope you are able to jury rig something to get you through the night. Some stores, like walmart, might be open late if you need it. Good luck!

I found that it's difficult to get duct tape or whatever to stick to smooth silicone ... so what I'd do FIRST is try do rough-up the area around the tear with some sandpaper, a nail file, anything gritty etc. You could gently rub the area on concrete or tile grout if it comes down to that Hopefully you can find an answer at the hardware store or in a drug store household's aisle. I don't know if you've tried to patch a bicycle tube but 'roughing up' the patch area is basic to that process, not that I'm suggesting a bike tube patch .

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

But usually a bike tire repair kit will contain something for roughing up the tire so the patch will stick. That might help with the mask fix.

I was thinking 'hills district' near Sidney too, but was too lazy to go searching ... good job, mystery solved. Now what holiday would that be

For the lazy amongst us ... my inquisitive nature could not be stymied this day ... but you'll need to click at least once on your own:

But, there are also towns named/spelled Sidney........like Sidney, Nebraska.

Google seems to have solved this problem too. Note the first result. I think we've pretty well established the location regardless of misspellings or other ambiguity. Still wondering if the duct tape did (or didn't) work out.

Sidney, Nebraska is on the edge of Wildcat Hills.
