Help with Mask "Farting" sounds
Help with Mask "Farting" sounds
I have been in the sleep field helping CPAP patients for many years. My sister started using something called maskmate and she says it helps with the sounds the previously woke her. She can now sleep through the night.
Re: Help with Mask "Farting" sounds
Proper tightening and a clean face will take care of "farting".

Re: Help with Mask "Farting" sounds
I've never heard of maskmate. However, I dealt with "face farts" when adjusting to the mask. In spite of washing well to eliminate facial oils etc. I couldn't tame the leaks that cause the farts. Then I learned about mask liners; there are several brands out there. They were a godsend for me. The noise comes from leaks in the mask seal that many people can tame with washing and proper adjustment of headgear.

Re: Help with Mask "Farting" sounds
I had same Problem mask liners did the trick for me!!!
some time the NEW mask liner worked ok for a short while Then they started
I would use a liner it fixed that
some times I will wash hand soap or dish soap and let them dry
when you wash them they will shrink back to size too
I will try to cut my own out of old thin T-shirts link to DIY mask cushion's http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/diy-cotton-mask-liner.pdf
also cleaning your humidifier tank with CLR Calcium Lime Rust Cleaner remember to RINSE Good

Re: Help with Mask "Farting" sounds
Maskmate appears to be some sort of ointment
http://maskmate.net/p/instructions-for-use
I do wonder how something could be a lubricant and at the same time tacky enough to help seal but hey...who knows.
I had never heard of it either so I googled it and this is what I found.
Not cheap but nothing pertaining to cpap ever is "cheap" it seems like.

I started out with a pressure of 5 and now up to 10 and my readings are still 3.8. Should I increase it to 11? This is year 2 of therapy
Re: Help with Mask
This seems completely unrelated to OP, why don't you start a thread rather than hijacking this one emoticon so you will understand it is just a question and comment, no rudeness implied.yarknit wrote:I started out with a pressure of 5 and now up to 10 and my readings are still 3.8. Is maskmate your product? Be honest, if it is I am sure folks here would like to ask some questions about it.thesleeplady wrote:I have been in the sleep field helping CPAP patients for many years. No research necessary, huge orange button at top of page that says "Post a new topic."
