My Airsense 10 Autoset leaked water

So I woke up and realized that my Airsense 10 Autoset had been leaking water the whole night. The table I had my Airsense on was flooding with water. The leak was so slow that there was some water still in the tank after the night. I was a bit drowsy and confused when I woke up so I didn't quite register whether the water tank was properly placed. But when I put the water container on a plate it continued to leak water from the bottom. I haven't been mishandling the device or anything.

Anyone else have had similar problems?

For what it's worth, I did phone my sleep clinic, but they didn't know what was up with the leak. (They'll be calling me later and I'll probably just get an older model or something, because they don't have spare parts for the Airsense 10 right now.)

Water containers are a replaceable supply item. You should not need a different machine...just a new plastic humidifier container. Always be careful not to over fill this container. Only fill to the designated line.

At this point, I would determine if the tank was over-filled or is defective.
Empty it, and dry it out. Refill with water, but to somewhere below the fill line.
Keep the tank LEVEL. Observe if water continues to come out.
If water comes out, mark the leaky place with a sharpie or eyeliner.
It sounds like the problem is NOT the machine--insist on a new tank.

That's exactly what I did already.

But the problem was that Airsense 10 Autoset is currently only for experimental use at our clinic so they just don't have any spare parts.

Let's see what they say when I get a contacted again.

If it's leaking where the metal is joined to the plastic (seems likely, and that huge seam always bothered me), maybe you can figure out where and fix it with a dab of some kind of waterproof glue, at least long enough to get a new tank.

You could also just use it without water until you get a new one. It might be annoyingly dry but it won't hurt you.

Turns out they did have a spare water chamber. Yay!

It appears the faulty chamber was leaking from just above the metal plate, between the junction of the lower part of the chamber. Just below the minimum line.

I have the same problem with keaking. I have ruined two Airsense APAP machines (replaced by supplier) and this is now the third water reservour that has started leaking. And no, I do not overfill (after the first probkems I carefully under fill) and the machine is not on an angle and it is not jostled - all these things are what Resmed says happened but they do nit.

I just think it is a crappy design for a tank with a seam that expands when warmed letting water out between the metal plate and the plastic.


My next step is to take the whole thing back and get a different prodict.

Anyone else similar?

My guess: they got a full CASE of the same defective lot, and are expecting YOU to test them ALL.
Demand one from a more recent run.

I'm on my 3rd tank, with a 4th waiting in the wings. The first two failed the exact same way, at the seam between the two pieces. Very poor design on ResMed's part, and it is too bad because I love this thing otherwise. Luckily all have been replaced under warranty so far.

I don't have an Airsense but that problem really sucks. Not a good beginning for that machine.

I have the same machine and have never had an issue yet with the water tank. The machine as a whole has been great.

I have used my RESMED 10 for a long time with no problems until now. Now water is leaking out during the night and has messed up my nightstand. I never overfill it. Do you think the company will replace the water container? I don't know how to track down the leak, because it doesn't leak when I'm not using the machine.

Edna, have you recently moved your machine to a higher level than the bed? If so, move it back down because it's possible the water's running to you instead of back down to where it came from.

One other tiny thing: when you pull the tank out of the dock,
take a peek at the little silicone gaskets that seal the inrake and exhaust to the blower.
They are kind of soft, and I can imagine one shifting out of position.
Rather sneaky they put them inside the dock where they cannot be easily seen.
