Sleep study
Sleep study
I've had a CPAP machine in the past, but have not used it in over a year. I had a new sleep study, showed some episodes of apnea. However, it did not meet the doctors requirements for me to start wearing the CPAP. When I woke up from that sleep study my blood pressure was 140/85 (Normally I'm in the 120/60-70 range) and had a headache. Not really sure where to go from here. I haven't spoke back with the doctor post sleep study, is there something I should let him know when I do followup with him?

Wait til he tells you what's what - without that, it's hard to comment.
Re: Sleep study
If you haven't spoken to your doctor, how do you know "it did not meet the doctor's requirements?" Meet with your doctor and discuss the BP concerns.Jkeith wrote:I've had a CPAP machine in the past, but have not used it in over a year. I had a new sleep study, showed some episodes of apnea. Re: Sleep study
Is this the tech that told you that you did not meet the requirements? It sounds like the he may have been telling you that you did not qualify for a split night study. For that, you have to meet certain requirements before they can stop the diagnostic test and move on to the titration phase. And you have to meet those requirements by a certain time, or they won't have enough time to do a titration.Jkeith wrote:I've had a CPAP machine in the past, but have not used it in over a year. Normally, a tech is NOT supposed to tell you the diagnosis results, so it doesn't make sense for a tech to say you don;t have sleep apnea. I really suspect he was referring to a split night study, and not your actual diagnosis.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
