Mask Cleaning/Drying

Post by JoeWingrove » Sun Mar 08, 2015 5:41 pm

Are there any tricks to getting the mask to completely dry? When I clean it I have issues with it not being dry in the inside area of the seal (the opposite side that sits on my face) and was any tricks to getting this area dry.

My Quattro seal air dries in about 3 hours and if it's a little damp...who cares. as soon as I put it on and turn on my machine, humid air fills the mask.
I really only wash the seal about every 2-3 weeks...I use baby wipes to clean it every day.

Joe, when I get up in the morning I remove the cushion, wash with a mild detergent, rinse, shake off the excess water and set aside to air dry. It is dry by evening when I re-assemble the mask.

Wish I had time in the morning to clean my mask, normally short on time and have to clean it in the evening.

When I'm ready to clean my mask, I always wash it first thing in the morning. Then it has all day to dry.
The outside of the mask is always dry. The inside is dry by the time I go to bed. If not, I shake out the water drops and put it on.
I figure when I turn on the machine, the rush of air will dry off the remaining drops on its own.

Lots of us use wipes (baby type, with no alcohol or petroleum jelly in them... you need to check) and they're quite effective and dry very quickly.

What do you guys consider necessary daily cleaning? Do I need to dump & clean the humidifier tank daily, or can I use the leftover water the next night? Do I need to clean the hose and the mask assembly every day, or just the nasal pillows? Can I just leave the whole setup as is for 2 nights in a row?

I skipped using the CPAP one night recently just because I knew I wouldn't want to clean everything the next morning. Sad but true. And I suffered for it.

This is my personal routine.....I do not clean anything on a daily basis. I wipe down my mask with baby wipes every night and wash it once a month. I never clean or rinse my hose. I rarely rinse my humidifier tank and I top it off with distilled water every 2 nights. This has been my routine for over 6 years. You do whatever makes you comfortable....everyone is different.

Well I like that a lot better than what I've been attempting! Thanks!

If you like drying it by hand get one of those small swimmers towels. I keep one in the kitchen for small delicate things and it sucks up every drop.
