APRIA says they need usage and doctor info, but they have it

Post by snorebeard » Sun Oct 05, 2014 1:33 am

Apria, here we go again.
Just got letter from Apria that they haven't been able to get Dr. visit and usage data, but they have usage data. They get by phone wireless modem usage data, according to DME from Apria.

Had visit with Dr., and they said would send the verification, at 30 day juncture. Apria says they tried to get these and are enlisting my help, threatening me with charges to the credit card no. that they forced me to give them.

What is the best way to get this taken care of, so they get off my back and Medicare gets them paid?
They have the usage data, Apria DME told me. Dr says sent it. What to do? I can call, but not sure the low level folk at Apria that take these calls aren't just delaying so they can charge me top dollar.

Help, please

Call Apria billing and talk to them, you don't want this to get out of hand.

Have you learned to use the software everyone here talks about? If so, send them the data yourself, email should work. Them you can remove that modem.

1. Call your credit card company and tell them you do not authorize Crapria to charge your card and ask for written confirmation in case they do anyway.
2. Ask your doctor for a copy of the report and send it yourself.
3. Ditto the data as above. (Keep copies of ALL correspondence).
4. Remove the modem and contact your insurer if Crapria bills you for any charges associated with the modem, since they don't seem capable of using it.

Good luck; I took the easy way out--I fired them.

Call your CC and tell them your card was stolen and not to pay any future charges. Then get another credit card somewhere else.
Call Crapria and tell them you no longer have a credit card and all future payments will be by money order only.
Then follow the advice above for collecting and forwarding the info. But I recommend you get written confirmation from the person who received it.

Remember if it is midnight and Crapria tells you it is dark outside go check for yourself.

I'm a few weeks in using new machine, a ResMed S9, that I got from Apria. My machine has a wireless module but when connected keeps flashing a "No network available" message, so I disconnected it. Should I assume (worry) that Apria will now be contacting me? My insurance authorized the purchase of a new machine S8 for 5 years and never did anyone ever request any usage information or anything. I too signed the Apria papers where they insisted that I leave a credit card on file, for payment if the insurance company refused. Why would the insurance company refuse, if they were the ones to authorize the machine? Apria initially tried to give me a different machine (as they also did with my 1rst machine) and I had to insist that I wanted the S9, as my doctor had prescribed. They gave everyone in my "class" the same (different and basic) machine and I had to return another day to get the S9 after the "business manager approved it". Over the first 5 years, I repeatedly got the wrong equipment supplies sent to me etc. Is Apria now charged with being "Big Brother", watching to see if you are using your machine or not? Feels a little creepy and makes me concerned. I guess maybe I should contact them and find out about my wireless modem connectivity issues?

Several months ago, I checked my own link (below in my sig.), and discovered that Apria no longer had the green "M"
next to their name, which indicates a Medicare contracted provider. I am now using the independent start-up
DME who now possesses the green "M". Nice people, I hope they make it.

Actually you don't need to go somewhere else, they will issues a new card. You can just tell them you lost the card and they will cancel it.

Check again, unless it is by region, they have both the star and the M in my area.

I'm puzzled why you are still with Crapria after all the 'bad blood' from the past? Are there no other DMEs in your area that are approved?

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

"I puzzled why you are still with Crapria after all the 'bad blood' from the past? Are there no other DMEs in your area that are approved?"...

Apparently, as my HMO group only authorizes Apria.

So it appears to me: I'm somewhat shocked but maybe I pushed the wrong buttons in the search engine?

I suspect it is by location; another note: Medicare is notorious about not being up to date on their own list.

The certified letter focuses unresponsive organizations wonderfully.

I would sent Apria a certified letter, copy your doctor.
