One would think, that if the above is true, ResMed would be able to gather and perhaps integrate information from their machines into this system. It doesn't seem likely they would develop a system that couldn't handle other types of their own equipment operating at the same time. But then, as you said Andy, you never know.Colin also showed me the sleep sensor they have been working on. Yes, it is a motion sensor. However, the trick they are using is not to directly infer sleep from movement, but to infer respiratory patterns (this is their area of expertise), and then infer sleep from respiration. They are also doing some distance sensing, to reduce noise. The requirement is that the sensor sit on a nightstand, pointing toward the sleeper's chest. We'll post some data samples here when we can.

What concerns me is that the website (http://mysplus.com/Home/index.html) mentions NOTHING about Apnea or CPAP. Maybe that's legally necessary, since CPAPs are Medical Devices, available by prescription. It would be unfortunate, for our purposes, if this device pretended that Apnea and CPAPs didn't exist. But you never know. One would think, that if the above is true, ResMed would be able to gather and perhaps integrate information from their machines into this system. They've changed the Splus.com website to say "Availability: Coming Soon". I'd be a little patient. The article in the WSJ yesterday evaluated five different devices and said that this was by far the best. I don't know if you will be able to access this as a non-subscriber, but here it is: http://online.wsj.com/articles/the-best ... I think having a pretty chart that says I am might make me feel better
Any other alternatives to help me document that I am getting better sleep quality if this device isn't available yet?

Colin Lawlor wrote: Hi Gary,
I’m sorry it took a little time to reply.
ResMed did acquire some of the Zeo assets including intellectual property. The anonymised sleep data were used to make comparisons with our extensive research on the sleep norms and various meta-analyses of sleep data during development of S+ by ResMed.
We have not reconstituted the Zeo platform. However, we are planning to offer a unique program to former Zeo customers (available in the US initially) so that they can build new data quickly and easily with S+. In the meantime, we love the vision that you and the QS movement have shown and want to do all we can to support healthy sleep.
Best wishes,
Colin.

Here is what the most recent customer review on Amazon says about it:andy88488 wrote:I just read about this in the Wall Street Journal. They tested a number of sleep monitors, and this was the most highly-recommended.
The machine uses hands-off sensors. It sits on your bedside and scans you. I wonder if it would be thrown off by CPAP mask, hose, etc. It would be pretty funny if Resmed made a machine which COULDN'T handle CPAP stuff, but you never know.
Does anyone know if it is CPAP-tolerant, or CPAP-friendly? It would be REALLY great if the S+ data integrated with your CPAP data, but that would be mixing "Personal" data and "Professional" data, and I don't know if they'd do that. Plus, I have a Respironics machine anyway! Maybe this is something Sleepyhead could incorporate. I bet that would be awesome!!
Thanks,
Andy

By Bill Bradford on October 28, 2014
I use other ResMed equipment nightly (a CPAP machine) and so far I'm impressed with this unit. I've used other sleep monitoring solutions (WakeMate, Fitbit, Garmin Vivofit) and they all required some sort of band or wearing something which can be uncomfortable. This unit sits on my bedside table, is powered via a MicroUSB cable (so I can plug it into my multi-USB-device charger), and connects to my Android tablet via Bluetooth. The first couple nights were a little finicky about getting the unit set to the right distance from the bed, but after that everything has worked great. My only complaint so far is that the software has to keep running on a phone/tablet all night, rather than just syncing with the device at the start and end of a sleep session.
