Question Pugsy
Question Pugsy
My S9 AutoSet Pressure settings are Auto 6.0 - 7.4 - 15.0 (please remember this is a new machine for me).
My "Therapy Pressure (cmH2O) W-Average" are between 8.65 and 9.49 as reported by SH.
Would you think I need to increase the Minimum from 7.4 to maybe 9.0, or maybe a little higher or a little lower than 9.0?
Thanks so much!

How much time do you spend above 10 cm up near 13 to 15?

Re: Question Pugsy
AHI between 1.67 to 2.74.
Sleep is alright but waking after about 5.5 - 6.5 hours and not falling back asleep. I don't have a lot of energy, and mild heart palpations, I know I need MORE sleep hours.

Re: Question Pugsy
People don't understand what the 95% numbers are....they are the pressure (or leak) where the machine was at OR BELOW for 95% of the night.. They miss the "or below" part and think that's where the pressure or leak is for 95% of the entire night and that's just not what it means.fdw wrote:SH reports 95% of the time between 10.08 and 10.54 and Maximum between 10.44 and 11.30
Heck you may have only hit 10 cm for 5 % of the time and the rest of that 95% you were well below that number.
Long term 95% numbers might be a good number to choose if using cpap mode but it isn't necessarily a good number for apap mode minimum pressure setting
.fdw wrote:AHI between 1.67 to 2.74.
What is the event category breakdown?
Now some people find that the variations in pressure when using auto adjusting mode can be a disruptive factor to sleep.
If you haven't tried cpap mode or a really tight apap range you might consider that to see if it helps or hurts your sleep quality.
So far based on the limited data available I see no reason to increase the minimum to anything but it wouldn't hurt to try a little more minimum. Maybe less movement would equal better sleep. There's no urgent need to increase the minimum though.

Re: Question Pugsy
I see no urgent reason to change your minimum pressure from what it is now.
But your current minimum is relatively low and it wouldn't hurt to increase it a little but it doesn't need to be 9ish.
Maybe...stress the maybe...if the pressure didn't roam around quite as much then you might sleep a little better.
It's really hard for me to get a grasp on pressure needs without seeing a couple of detailed reports.
Just going on some numbers doesn't always tell the whole story. Like maybe your pressure line bounces all over the place...or maybe it doesn't move much.

Your report from last night is nice and boring. Nothing of great excitement going on there.
Can you tell if you slept better last night?

Re: Question Pugsy
Pugsy,
Maybe a little.....hard to really be sure. If I could only sleep an hour or more I really think I would feel much better. I did sleep about an hour on the coach before bed last night (no APAP), but I only count the time on PAP as real sleep time.
Im hoping once the MAGIC number is achieved in APAP and I could get 7-8 hours of sleep I would feel much better, I think Im close.....I've only been on APAP for a week with the S9 AutoSet.
I've always used CPAP on Rx of 13.0 using the ResMed S8, and always kinda knew that number (13.0) was to high especially since I've lost 30-40 lbs (from 220's to 190 lbs.) since my last study, and I sometime woke with a belly full of air.
How long does it take the body/mind to get use to the APAP over CPAP (once the settings are spot on or near)? .....I defiantly feel better using the S9 in AUTO over the S8 in CPAP.

Re: Question Pugsy
A lot of people here would be thrilled to have numbers like yours! I think the additional hour or two of sleep will eventually be there if you can find a way to quit worrying about it. You mentioned falling asleep on the couch an hour before going to bed - would going to bed an hour earlier be an option?
