confused

Post by ainsle14 » Fri Jan 09, 2009 8:29 am

Hello: Good to be a member here, knowing there is a place with people that care. I am still confused about my sleep clinic report. I suffer from tiredness and no energy, sleepiness in afternoon. never feel rested when i wake and etc.
I have AHI of 14.8 (REM_ index = 20 events/hour)

He say:: The study showed evidence of mild obstructive apnea associated with continous moderate snoring , some respiratory arousals and mild aterial oxygen desaturation (while supine) . He displayed signification sleep fragmentation but in the absence of other sleep physiologic disturbance.

The confusing part is at first he says i have mild apnea but at the end he says i have "signification" sleep fragmentation.
Can someone explain that to me?
thank you

My guess is that your doctor is looking at the effect of your sleep apnea on your oxygenation. Looked at from that aspect, you're not so badly off - you "only" drop to dangerous levels for 0.2% of the time, and then those are not extremely low levels.

However, from the point of view of its impact on your sleep, it is affecting your sleep significanly - and you feel it. Some people are aroused from sleep when there's is a slight drop in their oxygen levels - the kind of drop that would not arouse other people.
