Possible Replacement for Swift II

Post by MandoJohnny » Mon Mar 10, 2008 7:42 pm

I have been using the Swift/Swift II, at a pressure of 11 for a year and a half. I am up for a new mask with DME right now and I can get pretty much what I want. I like nasal pillows and I like the Swift a lot and I would not be looking to change except for one thing: I used to sleep only on my right side and so I had the Swift II set up for that and it works fine. But my chiropractor has convinced me that is causing some back problems. He says that I should spend a roughly equal amount of side sleeping time on the left side. He even claims that the body will tend to even the sides out naturally if it is not prevented from doing so. I think it's worth seeing if that helps. I tried switching my Swift around to the other side and I can sleep on the left just fine. But I don't want to have to choose sides every night, I would like to change sides even in the middle of the night and no matter how you route the hose, the Swift will not work well on the "off side."

So I would like a mask that works and feels like the Swift, but is ambidexterous. My question to the message board is: Have any of you had the Swift and liked it, but switched to another nasal pillow mask that you liked as well or better, preferably one that is ambidexterous? Any help would be appreciated.

I use the swift and sleep on both my right and left side. I sleep on the right side of the bed, so that's the side the hose is connected to. I don't have any problems switching sides during the night.

I used a Swift for a year, then changed to a Headrest. I LOVE the Headrest! My leak rate is lower, my AHI is lower, and it stays put when I flop from side to side. I think you'll like it.

I used swift 1 for long time- then I tried the aura / twilight np- switched

I have a large head and use it right out of the box - it is ideal, in my opinion,
for sleeping from side to side- \I find it the most comfortable and leak free

i have a plant hanger over bed to dangle the hose from

also- swift can rain- the aura WILL rain

probably need heated hose--

in my opinion it is all worth it - aura is best I have found for side sleeping

MandoJohnny,

Maybe you don't need to change from your Swift. I sleep on both sides with my Swift. By attaching the hose to the top strap buckle you can get the hose such that you can sleep on both sides. Also you could change your head pillow like one from Target or the Papillow may help. Routing the hose to the upper clip on the Swift headset can really make a difference, at least it did for me. Thanks to poster Sleepdeprived, he has saved me many nights of sleep. See the discussion at the link below. It also has pictures on how this routing is done.

If the link does not work, search using: swift AND hose AND routing AND daughter

For the Papillow see this link:

Good Luck, Sleep Well!

I love my Opus. Its lighter than the Swift and the swivel elbow allows me to toss and turn without any seal loss.. I don't attach the hose to anything and route it over my headborad when at home. It is like wearing nothing now.

On the road I just run the hose to the side and still have little interference, Been using it since they came out. Just something you might give a try.
