A best night in months - Thanks Hybrid & Pur-Sleep

Post by Nodzy » Fri Aug 31, 2007 2:03 pm

A Hybrid mask was used. Its large passive exhalation vent rate may not be considered a best solution. But, a FF mask was a necessary attempt by me to remedy mouth breathing and mouth venting problems, while avoiding mouth taping and chinstraps under or over nasal interface masks.

Regardless of high vent rate, the Hybrid mask is proving to be the best mask for me that I have used to-date. I am ecstatic with it, despite still learning to tolerate the larger face-grasp than a nasal pillow interface.

And Pur-Sleep aroma therapy is playing a huge roll in my ability to avoid mask-off episodes, and in getting to sleep faster and staying in good sleep longer.

I keep reading good things about purr-sleep I'm waiting for my starter kit to arrive. I'm convinced to try it out now.

good news on the data...I'm also waiting on a card reader so I can track it every day or so too.

That's great. I think aroma therapy can assit many people in therapy compliance and comfort, and enjoyment of sleep. And Pur-Sleep sure helped me.

The software has a small learning curve, but there are plenty of experienced users on the board who will gladly reply to questions about it if you need help.

Good luck... and happy PAPing.

I couldn't agree more, though I was really skeptical about a FF mask for me. It took me a while to even tolerate the larger face-grasp and the face pressure, but finally I'm giving in to the mask gradually. In return I'm getting benefit from it, far above nasal interface styles that I generally prefer.

With those I just can't get effective therapy without trying lip strips, mouth taping and/or chinstraps. I found the Hybrid to be a wiser choice for me, and hopefully it will remain a good mask for me.

But, I have to say... without this board I would still be lost in the misery of being barely informed, misinformed in what little information medical professionals provided to me and still improperly prescribed for and treated.

Self-help here by sharing experience and information is probably lengthening thousands of lives, vastly improving the quality of those lives, helping whole families fare far better... and all manner of other benefits.

Ok... I'll stop there. Too much polishing of the board door handles could wear off the gold plating.

Nodzy you are right. If it wasn't for this place and users talking to users and helping each other out I would be flailing out there. I have learned a lot from everyone here and I've grown from the initial feeling that I was doomed to be a dork with a mask and hose coming off of me to basically feeling loved and accepted cause there are more of us out there than I ever knew. The main thing is not feeling alone ya know?

Exactly. I had no concept that tens-of-millions of people suffer from sleep disorders. And I'm learning that the majority are not yet diagnosed and being treated.

Thankfully cpap.com provides this board free of charge. The public service they provide, in addition to excellent equipment and variety of services... is a quality package of business accumen.

BTW... nice site... and shots.

Huh? I thought that if you visited my dreams... the chart would look like clustered mountain ranges, with successive very steep peaks. But I could be wrong... LOLOLOLOL...
