Status Since Weight Loss

Post by Madalot » Sun Dec 27, 2015 9:37 am

As most of you know, I have been on a weight loss journey since March thanks to Diabetes. It's my own fault for not trying to do something about my weight BEFORE it became critical that I do so. It's all on me.

But, I have lost 75 pounds (although Christmas allowed me to put on 1-2 pounds). I do feel better and get around better not hauling that 75 extra pounds. And no, I am NOT done yet. I have a goal of another 40 pounds IF I am able.

I already posted about my mask woes thanks to a skinner face. I am making the F&P Simplus work MOST nights, but there are still some nights that sucker just will not stop leaking.

I saw my Pulmonologist last week and it was very gratifying when the first words out of his mouth were "Have you lost weight??!!??" and then he said "I was expecting a much larger woman. I thought I had the wrong patient!!"

Anyway -- all is well for the most part. He and I both noticed that my PTB is actually DOWN from where it was when I was heavier. He's not concerned because that's why I'm on the Trilogy, but I've gone from an average of 95 - 100% PTB to 90 - 94% average, with a few nights down into the middle 80%. I would have thought losing weight might have helped that, but apparently, it has not.

After all the Christmas Eve festivities, with more to come Christmas evening, I decided to lay down on the bed just to rest. No sleeping, just resting. I was also trying to determine IF it was easier to breathe now that I've lost weight. I can say that perhaps a little, but I still felt I had to struggle to breathe laying down without the Trilogy.

So I guess weight loss, for me, is not going to fix the underlying neuromuscular issues and I still need the Trilogy. But on the bright side, I already have it, have a very cooperative doctor and know how to make my own adjustments if need be. Things could be a whole lot worse!!

Congratulations - you have done a great job at the weight loss.

For many people it is probably as difficult as adjusting to the mask.

Thank you. I was a bit surprised to find that my PTB was WORSE at the lower weight. It is what it is and as my doctor said - we're not worried about it because the Trilogy takes over when need be.

Congrats on the weight loss! With your physical activity so limited that is an especially remarkable feat. I feel motivated to try harder myself. Glad your machine is giving you any changes in support you may need. Thanks for sharing.
