Heated Humidifier

Pen and pencil.png

A heated humidifier uses a water chamber in conjunction with a heater plate, which warms the water that is delivered through the patient circuit. Heated humidification has known to cut down on mouth breathing, as well as improve compliance.

A heated humidifier can also be used in "passover mode". That is just leaving the humidifier setting at "off" or "0". The patient still gets humidity but it is unwarmed. Some people find passover humidity better for them in terms of sleep comfort, therapy and, therefore, compliance.

The level of humidity and whether it is heated or passover, may also depend upon the climate (dry or humid) or the season (some prefer some heat in colder months).
