is my resmed s9 set up ok?

Post by djn1 » Sun Aug 10, 2014 8:50 pm

Hi. My Resmed s9 autoset 's display now shows 60 degrees F , cooling down. The air pressure coming out is at 1 or 2; minimum active pressure is 4.. Do I leave it this way and put on the mask or do I need to adjust it?
thanks

the resmeds go to a 'cooldown' mode and blow air gently to cool things down, when you mask up and hit the go button, it'll go back to normal operation.

Do you feel you're getting well treated at the settings you have? What is your actual prescribed pressure (or have you not found that out yet?). You should have a copy of the full (not just summary) results from your study to see what's what. Are you using software like Sleepyhead (free on this forum) to look at your stats?

If you are shutting it down, that is normal.

If you just turned it on something doesn't seem to be right. Maybe you hit the button twice and turned it on them off?
Maybe you could provide a little more details.

Hi folks thanks for the advice so far. Is there a complete manual for a patient to use.

I don't have a recommended pressure setting. I find that pressure of 4 is still high, and it makes me keep mouth open, so I eventually remove my nasal pillow after a few minutes.pls help.
thank you

What did your sleep/titration study come up with pressure? 4 is I believe around the minimum

True, 4 is the minimum. It seems like a lot at first, but it's less than you would feel
if you were riding in a convertible, or on a galloping horse; and once the mask fits correctly,
there will be no breezy, noisy airflow from under the silicone,
which is the source of most of our feeling of air movement.

A pressure of 4 is the lowest that a cpap machine can go do for a setting. It only does 0-4 as it starts up and cools down. It really is a low pressure, so with some practice, you can get used to it.

Do you know how to check your settings? It is pretty rare for somebody to be at a pressure of 4, so it could be higher than that.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
