Thanks mollette. This is so relevant for many of us on the forum who have both pain and sleep issues.
This series you're creating is so valuable. We really need to have the Table of Contents stickied at the top so people can access the threads easily.
At this point I would retitle this series CPAP ESSENTIALS.

I just listened to the webcast and did the posttest. Very helpful to me as a mental health professional but even moreso as a sleep/pain patient. Thanks again mollette.

Heard him at conference recently. He and Roehrs are doing a lot of stuff in this area now.

The original link is broken. I could not find the same article, but here’s another article he wrote on this subject:

I've never thought pain hurt my sleep, but rather the other way around. It takes a lot of energy to deal with chronic pain, and sleep apnea keeps that from happening.
I (and everyone I knew) just thought I was lazy. Then I was diagnosed with sleep apnea when I was 30.

Pain is very disruptive of sleep. Which makes it harder to cope with pain, so, vicious cycle.

Overall, yes. But I've had sleep apnea since I was a kid, and the pain issues are only since my 30s. So I never credit the pain with hurting sleep.

Two separate issues.

Sometimes the puzzle pieces fit together--sometimes they don't.
And then my bratty little cousin comes in and dumps the whole thing on the floor.
I have no idea how that works in--but the memory crossed my mind just now.
