Resmed supplies

Post by caffeinatedcfo » Thu Oct 17, 2013 6:57 pm

I bought replacement short tube and slimline tube from cpap.com for my Swift FX and S9 autoset. However, they are slightly shorter than the original hoses I received with my machine. Also, the slimline tube is not as loose as the original. It seems to have permanent bends in it that have not straightened since unpacking them a month ago.

Anyone else have this issue?

Are they ResMed brand hoses?
If so, the name ResMed will be embossed on the ends.

The bends take a couple months or so to soften up. The hose may lengthen as it loosens up. How much shorter are the new ones now?
I wish they would package the hoses so the curve would be uniform. These narrow bags just ruin the hose for weeks!!

Yes they say Resmed, just the hose itself is slightly lighter in color. The short tube is about an inch shorter than my original. The long hose is hard to tel because of the damn bends. I've only had it about four weeks so here's hoping. It regularly slides off me in the middle of the night easily because of these bends - doesn't wake me but sometimes convinces my head to tilt toward that side causing a little stiffness in the morning.

I have two SlimLine hoses that came with 2 separate S9 AutoSets.
I have never used either since I use the ClimateLine on both.

I took the 1st one out of the pack since it was not sealed - but I am confindent the hose is new & not used. Those bends are pretty intense to say the least.

The 2nd one DID come in a sealed bag & I left it like that.
But, the bends in it also seem to be pretty intense.

Even the sealed bag does not have any ResMed name, logo, Item number, nor description. It is just a clear sealed bag.

Both of my SlimLine hoses DO have the ResMed name on the ends - so I do question why they did not come in ResMed bags.

Every other ResMed brand item I purchase DOES come in sealed ResMed bags.

Hmmmm !

I purchased them on cpap.com and trust them, but the rep that responded to my inquiry has not answered me straight. She suggested laying it out in a sunny window for the afternoon. I gently reminded her that ResMed's official cleaning instructions tell us NOT to allow things to dry in direct sunlight. Then she replied about getting rid of the new plastic smell - huh? I never mentioned smell??? I still await an answer to my direct question: are these hoses Resmed 'knock-offs'?

If they ARE "knock-offs" & DMEs are selling them knowing that, I assume their biggest problem would be with ResMed - especially since the ResMed name IS on the end.

I bought my two ResMed S9 AutoSets WITH ClimateLine hoses.
The 2 SlimLine hoses were just thrown in for FREE in case I wanted to use the S9s withOUT the Humidifier.
So, I guess, "I" can't claim to have been defrauded.

Am interested in what "acceptable" answer you finally get.

At first, the hoses were very fragile; Re$Med responded to numerous complaints about flimsy, damage-prone hoses
by changing the color slightly; and by making the hoses stiffer (we assume stronger)
This could be what you are seeing. There may be a slight difference in the redesigned hose length, as well.

Thanks! I never heard back but that sounds reasonable.

You could try dipping the kinks in hot water or running a hair dryer over them. That is what we do for kinky circular knitting needles.

get to get rid of any smell or unintended issues, I always soak a new slimline hose in the tub with hot soapy water and then rinse it out..

any kinks that were in it are gone after the above process.

Try to slip the end of the hose onto your kitchen faucet and run hot water through it. It may or may not fit, depending on the aerator. This may help it straighten out.
