Encore Basic leak reporting option

Post by Pugsy » Sun Jul 08, 2012 9:07 pm

I hadn't paid much attention to EncoreBasic and the reported leak until just now.
Looks like the default setting for reporting leak is unintentional leak. There is an option to change it to total leak if someone wishes. Click on Utilities, Preferences and edit the page to change it.
So when an Encore Basic software user is reporting leak numbers from a report it likely is unintentional leak unless they knew to change to total leak. SleepyHead of course reports total leak.
We just need to confirm which software is being used and which leak value.

Below are examples of my report from last night. EncoreBasic total leak and unintentional leak.
Third image is same report in SleepyHead...note that the increase in leak line is in response increase in pressure which means that the vent rate also increased. Right click the SH image and choose "view image" if you can't see the 8 AM stuff.

i have encore basic on 2 laptops that i load every day. they are set to total leak. i'm not so sure i changed it. i also have it on a winxp desktop which i loaded to test, to see if it would work on xp. i only used it that one time and i'm pretty sure i didn't change it. it also says total leak.

Hmmm. That's fine then. I didn't change my leak reporting value because I didn't know that I could.
When I installed EncoreBasic and gave it a brief run through I used the SD card from my BiPap machine which hadn't been used for a couple of months. I didn't dig deep within it and didn't even really look at the leak line to see the report. I was just checking to make sure that everything showed up like in Pro...same reports and wave form.
At least I don't remember changing it...maybe the aliens did it or made me do it and not remember.

Anyhow, if most people are seeing total leak then that is fine. It doesn't really matter which is shown as long as they understand what the reporting value is.

pugsy,

I'm glad you included the SH graph of the same night here. It is a wonderful example of how the scaling in SH makes huge mountains out of those mole hill sized leaks.

this is why i look at both programs. the leaks look so dramatic and scary in sleepyhead, yet when you see the same thing in eb it don't look as huge and is nowhere near large leak that would compromise treatment.

because i wasn't 100% sure, i just now loaded encore basic on another winxp computer and the default is total leak.

Then likely I probably changed mine and simply didn't remember ever doing it.
I had a moment of panic because I was telling people that Encore reported total leak and thought "oh crap"...
With Encore Pro the default leak report value is definitely unintentional leak though. That I am 100% certain of but since I no longer see any need to use or recommend Pro I had not mentioned the option.
