stored data?

I have a PR System One REMstar Plus CPAP Machine with C-Flex (I hope that gives enough information on exactly what machine I have, if not please let me know). I'm interested in finding out how much information my machine stores. I know that it stores compliance information (like hours used) and AHI information, but is that all it keeps track of or would it store other information that could be of use to me? In particular, would it store anything about breaths per minute or how deeply I'm breathing or the curve on how the C-Flex is helping?

I'm mainly just curious, but asthma runs in my family and I'm also wondering if my CPAP machine could be of any help in seeing how I'm breathing during allergy season or when I'm using certain medications...or even to get a baseline so that 10 years from now I know if I'm breathing as deeply or as slowly as I do now.

I've seen some pretty fancy grapsh in some threads here but I'm guessing those are coming from APAP machines with much greater data capabilities than my CPAP machine. The couple of times I saw my doc I forgot to ask and the graphs she showed me on the computer screen only showed usage (when the machine was on versus off by days and hours) and when there were AHI or other "events".

The PR System One Plus CPAP with CFlex (model number 250 or less) stores only hours of use to satisfy insurance requirements. It does NOT store AHI or anything else.

If you have AHI available on your machines LCD screen it is not a Plus.. check the bottom of the blower unit for model number...will have DS or HS beside it...250 is the Plus

450 is the Pro and it offers full data
500 is the APAP model and it also offers full data.

unfortunately, what you see on the screen is all you get if you download the card. if you have the means it would be well worth your money to buy an apap that has all the bells and whistles and data. insurance normally will buy you a new machine when yours is 5 years old. my machine is around $600 on line with lightly used being less. if you do buy do not buy the new sys one 60 series as sleepy head software is not available for it yet.

SleepyHead software is not yet compatible with the new PR S1 60 series machines with the heated hose but there is an Encore software version that does work with the new 60 series machines (and older machines). Should you end up with such a machine send me a private message and we will see what we can do about getting software that will work with that particular model.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I'll have to check for a model number tonight when I get home. On my machine I can see hours used (7 and 30 days), days used >4 hours (7 and 30 days), an AHI number for 7 days and one for 30 days (for instance it says something like 7 day: 2.4 30 day: 3.0), and periodic breathing (which is always 0.0 for me).

Are you saying that the fact that I can see any AHI figure at all means my machine is capturing full data? Like all of the data in your signature link to PR S1 software?

Note that mine is DEFINITELY a CPAP machine and not APAP. I'm pretty sure it's says "Plus" on it, I didn't write everything down while looking at it I was more going from looking at the pictures of the various machines and what I remember.

I just looked at the pictured machines and descriptions again and now I'm pretty sure Pugsy is right that I don't have the "Plus". I'm pretty sure I have the PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP Machine with C-Flex Plus, which would be the DS450 I believe.

So does that mean that I have full data like in Pugsy's signature link? I've never seen my doctor look at anything as complex as those graphs (only the bars with times used/not used and blips for AHI events).

Yes, if you have AHI data available on the LCD screen then you do indeed have a full data machine and you can make use of the software options available to you. I would suggest giving SleepyHead a try. It is a bit easier to manage than Encore software and actually is superior because it allows for customization that Encore does not.
There is no "minimal data" machine like with the ResMed Escape Auto.... Respironics machines either have full data or not. No in between.
