S9 Resmed Humidity Control
S9 Resmed Humidity Control
I have just received my brand, spanking new S9 Elite and I've already developed a bit of an emotional attachment to it. I haven't slept this well in over 15 years. Last night was my second night using it and I've noticed that when I blew my nose this morning, there was a bit of blood. How do I adjust the humidity in the machine? the manual that came with it didn't say anything at all. Thanks
Re: S9 Resmed Humidity Control
Maybe you have the setting to high. What is your temp set at?
Re: S9 Resmed Humidity Control
Dried blood points to dry nasal passages. May need more moisture.
Do you have the ClimateLine hose or the regular hose?
Normally to increase or decrease the level of humidity you just turn the knob on the machine.
Do you see a temperature setting on the screen or a number from 1 to 6 when you turn the knob on the machine?

My setting is at 83 F but I don't see anywhere else where I can adjust the level of humidity, just the temperature. I have the climateline hose.Pugsy wrote:Dried blood points to dry nasal passages. May need more moisture.

Re: S9 Resmed Humidity Control
I don't think that the temp will go above 86 degrees...normally the higher the temp the greater the humidity level. Are you using much water each night?
What mask are you using?
If you would register here at the forum then add your equipment to your profile we could easily see what equipment you are using? See mine at the end of my post.
If you only seeing the temperature adjustment....then in the clinical setup the humidifier is set to Auto...meaning it will automatically adjust temp based on ambient room conditions to try to keep humidity level around 80% which is normally sufficient for most people. You may need more humidity....you might need less but the presence of dried blood points to the nasal mucosa being dry and bleeding easily.
I had it happen for months pre cpap when I moved to Las Vegas....it took forever for my nasal mucosa to get used to the dry air there.
Try adding some Simple Saline spray during the day often...to help hydrate the nasal mucosa.
If you are using a nasal pillow mask...add some Lansinoh to coat the insides of the nostrils.
There is a way to set the S9 ELite so that you can have independent control of the temp and humidity setting. I just recently did it myself.. You have to be able to get into the clinical menu to do this.
If you don't know about the ultra secret clinical menu....
There is a pdf manual available....and a video that shows how to get to your machine settings.
Video here....http://www.cpaplibrary.com/machine-education
If you want the pdf provider/clinical manual (different from your user manual) I need to be able to send you a private message or you need to end me a private message..
