CMS50E won't connect

Post by shen303 » Wed Feb 29, 2012 5:42 pm

I recently purchase a CMS50E. It came with a CDR containing the SPo2 Assistant v2.1 software.
When you start the oximeter it says version 6.2.
I installed the software on my Windows XP machine and it will not recognize the device.
I installed the software on my Windows 7 machine and it will not recognize the device.
I uninstalled the drivers and software and installed each of following
SPO2 gen v1.0 would not recognize the oximeter. Unistalled program and drivers.
SPO2 gen v0.981would not recognize the oximeter. Unistalled program and drivers.
Did each of these on the XP and 7 machine. None of the programs would recognize the device regardless of the OS.
Installed Sleepy head v0921 would recognize the oximeter and report saved pulse data, but would not show SpO2 data (which I'm most interested in). This is a known issue with sleepyhead, as the 50E returns different format of SPO2 data.

Can anyone please help me? I'm at my wits end as to how to see the recorded data on from the 50E.
Thanks,
G

If SleepyHead can read sensible data for pulse you have proven that you have the proper drivers and cable. I too had problems with the supplied software AND cable. The unit would not work with uart in cable since it was built in. A standard cable was required. With Wn7-64, I ended up using SPO2 Review V1.2 rel to capture recorded SPo2. Go to http://www.pulseoxstore.com/Manuals-Downloads.html to download. SPO2 Manager V1.2 rel will allow real time wave display if you are interested in that.

I had the same problem. Downloaded different versions of the software, pestered technical services. Nothing worked. Finally returned the unit to the seller.

Are you using the USB cable that came with the CMS50E?
A regular USB cable won't work.

Uncle Bob,

The cable that came with my Ver 6.5 CMS-50E WOULD NOT WORK. Only after I switched to a standard cable did it work. Try both.

I had similar problems getting the CMS-5OE to connect.
Then I realized, or should I say noticed, in the menu on the Pulse-ox meter itself, the USB was set to "off."
Changed it to "ON," and it was able to connect!
Don't forget to check the USB setting on your Pulse-ox meter menu, because it looks like the factory default is set to "Off."

Hi everyone.
I had the same problem with connecting.
I had been using the oximeter on a laptop for a while but the laptop died.
I just bought a new laptop with Windows 8. Tried many different things to try to get it to work. Without success. ggggrrrrrr.
Then read the email above. Had a look at my oximeter. Yep it was set to USB off. I have owned the oximeter for a while and been carrying it in my packpack when I travel. Looks like the buttons must have been pressed while travelling and turn USB to off.
Hope this helps

I've been through all these and other snags as well. I remember how time-consuming it was. Check out the link in my signature. It addresses the various snags and how to get around them so, hopefully, you might not have to run the same gamut. Now my pulse ox works consistently.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with the accuracy of the cms50e. I've had two of them that I returned. One from an ebay seller in China, and one from Walgreens. Both read about 3 points low on the oximeter when compared to a calibrated machine. Pulse seems to be accurate. No problems with them connecting to my windows 7 desktop.
