Prescription

Post by teach33 » Mon Feb 27, 2012 6:53 pm

Does the doctor that oversees the sleep study have to provide patient with a copy of prescription? My doc had me sign a release on my medical records and supposedly sent the prescription with them to a local supplier of health care products. Still waiting ----

You have the right to choose your supplier--unless you are in an HMO, where the choices are limited.
Be sure to read the necessary information in this forum BEFORE you meet the DME.

If you ask for a copy of the prescription the doctor should give you one.
DME is Durable Medical Equipment provider. The company you get your supplies from is usually a DME.

You have a right to a copy of the scrip. Depending upon your (U.S.) insurance, you have a say in the equipment you get. They all grossly overcharge and make a killing so there should never be an issue.
