Appetite change

Post by tresguey » Mon Feb 27, 2012 4:07 pm

I have been on CPAP treatment for about two weeks now. I feel that I am very hungry now. I can't stop myself from eating. I was diagnosed with diabetes in November and have been on a strict diet since then. But it seems like since CPAP treatment my hunger has grown a lot. Anyone else have this happen?

Nope, but carb cravings are a sure sign of elevated insulin.

As a diabetic noob, you've GOT to look at a couple of videos. It might be life-saving: Tom Naughton explains the phenomenon you're experiencing very well in his video. It's absolutely the best $20 or so you can spend, considering what is at stake. http://www.fathead-movie.com/index.php/about/

And Dr. Robert Lustig's excellent "Sugar- The Bitter Truth" in which he states flat-out that Type 2 diabetes can be entirely reversed by diet alone. This one's free:

So long as your Type 2 diabetes doesn't become Type 1 diet alone can let you live an essentially normal life. A number of folks here on the forum have done just that. You're not alone.

Best of luck.

Slartybartfast, please excuse me being off topic, but I notice you use the Opus 360 pillows mask. How do you like it as compared to ResMed's Swift FX pillows mask?

Thanks Slartybartfast. FYI Netflix has Fat Head I plan to what that tonight. I was half thinking to just bite the bullet and by some appetite suppressants but figured I just need more will power. I was always told if your body craves something you need it. I am now sure that is wrong.

High blood glucose creates craving for carbohydrates.
A vicious cycle.
Breaking this cycle requires lowering blood sugar levels.
Monitoring BHG, drugs and insulin are the most common way to stop the cycle of carbs/craving/more carbs.
Jackpot for big pharma!
Reducing consumption of simple carbohydrates, moderate exercise, reasonable amounts of nutritious foods, and adequate hydration
is a much more effective and natural way to control those cravings--and lose weight.
It is not easy; but it works.
