Newbie awaiting equipment
Just finished my second visit to the sleep lab to test my nose mask and to titrate the machine. I am now awaiting equipment to be ordered and get in. I just emailed the clinic to ask to get involved with the ordering of equipment. What do I need to know at this important part of the process? I have read a ton of suggestions here on the website but would really like some advice from a newbie going through this right now......thanks a lot!

Hello & Welcome, bluegrass001! Glad you found this forum—SO much useful info and everyone here is so willing to help!
You're lucky to have found this forum as you begin CPAP—took me almost year before I found this place and, with the help of folks here, got my CPAP therapy working as it should. It does take time to get everything tweaked and working at its best, so patience is key as one begins CPAP.

You are wise to want to be involved in the choice of your equipment. For advice on navigating the process of obtaining your equipment, see JanKnitz's excellent What you need to know before you meet your DME. JanKnitz also has a nice entry on Data capable machines.
Best of luck!

Equipment really depends on your needs, but I would press hard to get a fully capable data recording pap machine not one that just records compliance data. Don't accept anything that doesn't.
That is key number #1 to getting your therapy to work. Don't let them tell you other wise, when they say you don't need that, they really mean we want to string you along and not really worry about your conditions other then to profit off them.
The next is the mask, when you get fitted make sure that it works for you, make them turn on the unit and at least test it on you. If for any reason you don't like it, IE it hurts or leaks or whatever make them try something else until you find something your happy with.
Once you get your gear update your profile and then everyone who has the gear you do can give you tips =)
Great Links given by Robysue ! just reviewed them and they are spot on. !
Good Luck and Welcome to the forums.

Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.
