New User in Baltimore
Went through all the tests and received my new CPAP device with mask etc. Worked very well the first night but now it begins to leak so bad that my wife is awakened. It started out with a pressure of 3 but now shows a 4 mh and sounds terrible after about an hour. It awakens me and after moving the mask around it may stop leaking for a few minutes. I know I should contact the medicare person who fitted me but perhaps I am doing something wrong? Thanks, AL

Welcome! I am pretty new here too and had to get a new mask today for a better fit. You might have to try a few before you find one that works well for you.
If you look up your mask on CPAP.com there might be videos on how to fit it properly. The one for my mask was really helpful because I kept thinking tighter was better, but that mask was made to rest very lightly on the face.

Hi k3roj and welcome to the forum.
If we knew what kind of mask you have, people with knowledge of that mask would offer some pointers. Rather than have to repeat it all the time, it would be very helpful if you could put your equipment in your profile and have it display automatically in your signature (see mine for an example). Just go to the user control panel link on the top left, select your equipment, and choose "display as text" (since it's impossible to tell exactly which one you have using the pictures).
Some generic advice is to keep your mask free from oils. Hand wash it with mild soap, rinse, and air dry, or use a suitable mask wipe (one that won't damage your mask). Also, wash your face shortly before you go to bed to clean off any oils.
A pressure of "3" doesn't seem right. The machines I'm familiar with have a minimum of 4 cm H20, and most people can't breathe comfortably at such a low pressure.

Additional Comments: Pressure is 11-14. Old CPAP was a Resmed S6 Lightweight. Also have Profile lite mask. ResScan is actually version 3.14. Now I use Sleepyhead. |
