Heaviness/Tight head feeling after using Auto CPAP

Post by heartchakra » Fri Feb 24, 2012 10:51 pm

Hello to all,

My father, age 70 , has been using the respironics Auto CPAP since about a month. Lately he has been complaining that he gets a heaviness/hangover kind feel in his head and also as if there is a tightness around the circumference of his head . Also, sometimes says he feels as if his head has become " airy " .

I was wondering if others here have experienced similar things and what can be done.

With love,
Deepak

I wonder if his headgear is adjusted properly.
Some techs just tighten them way too much.
The air should inflate his mask so it will ride on his face nice and soft.
It often takes a while to get it right; and then as the fabric ages, it has to be adjusted a bit more.
Good luck with your dad.

Deepak,

What is the range of pressures the machine is set to provide? Being a new user myself I probably cannot offer much advice but there are many knowledgeable people here who can. Best wishes.
