Sleeyhead Questions

Post by tresguey » Fri Feb 24, 2012 12:20 pm

I am new to this, and have only had my machine for a few days. I just downloaded Sleepyhead and installed it on a work and a home computer. I uploaded three days of data but have no clue what I am looking at, for or what are even good or bad numbers.

Is there a cheat sheet of some sort?

We don't have what I think you want because it is really hard to come up with "normals" for such a wide set of norms in some of those data entries you see.

Generally I suggest that new users get the basics under their belt and then with time you can search out what those other graphs mean.
Basics... Event graphs, AHI and the breakdown and what it means, pressure graphs and Leak line and data.
That other stuff like minute volume have such a large variation in normal that I usually tell people to just use that data for a baseline and then gradually study up on things. Men will have different norms than women...people at higher elevations will have different norms...tall people will have a different norm than short people.

For definitions....look in the SleepyHead Glossary... I think I have a link for it in my signature.
The Basics....We like the AHI to be less than 5..the lower the better but don't obsess over a difference between one night at 2.2 and the next night 3.2..
Your leak numbers and line....ResMed reports excess or unwanted leak because it subtracts the vent rate before reporting....ResMed says that up to 24 L/min of leak that it can compensate for the leak...so try to keep it as far below 24 L/min as you can but don't panic if you see a few spikes up near that line.

I am working on a tutorial but it is still rough and I am behind but here is some of the questions that have been asked and answered.
