I am about to get an S9 Autoset device with the pressure range left wide open. I have never had any kind of CPAP/APAP machine before. My initial tests indicate that I should be on a CPAP set at 11, but I want the flexibility available with the Autoset. If I am steadily in a smaller range (i.e 11-12) can I set the S9 to a specific range myself (i.e 9-13) or will it always be set to 4-20?
Thanks for your help! This forum has already helped me feel far more knowledgeable and confident going into my first meeting with my DME (Apria).

Re: S9 Autoset adjustment question
I love it when someone who has never used a machine is already changing presssure. LOL! You don't need anyone's permission to change your pressure. Good grief. At least you have a starting point of 11 to guide you.

Re: S9 Autoset adjustment question
It is easy to change your pressure yourself if you need to.
I assume that there is some reason that the DME is dispensing APAP with wide open range so I won't go into that speech as I don't have time. Wide open is a recipe for disaster for a person brand new to all this...
I will send you a link for the clinical manual in just a minute and you can see how to do whatever you want to do with the machine.
But you might want to watch this video as it will help explain most of the features you will likely have questions about.

Re: S9 Autoset adjustment question
I am just the type to do a huge amount of research beforehand. I wasn't sure this type of setting was preset and locked by the DME ahead of time since they asked to have a range specified by the doctor. I plan on using this machine in CPAP mode at first at the recommended setting, but don't want to be limited down the road if I still have problems.
I just figure it is better to plan for something that doesn't happen than be surprised later.

Yes... if you push the "push dial - the round knob" and the "set up menu button - the button with the check marks" and hold for 3 seconds, the clinical menu will appear on the screen. You can scroll thru the menu to adjust your settings.
As Mary Z indicated (sarcasm... I guess), you should not be making changes early on (from the git-go). I recogmend that you keep the settings your doctor recogmended. Work on finding a comfortable mask that doesn't leak first. Watch your data, educate yourself and track your readings, but don't chase them. Once you feel comfortable with your therapy, you may want to tweak your numbers.... but do it slowly and see what your results are. Just sayin'

Wise decision. Educate yourself and then experiment if you feel the need.NoSleep4u wrote:I plan on using this machine in CPAP mode at first at the recommended setting, but don't want to be limited down the road if I still have problems.

Re: S9 Autoset adjustment question
Yes, the prescription is preset and locked according to your prescription. You'll need the clinical manual to unlock it and change it.
I thought you said you were getting an AUTO set at 4/20. A CPAP at your prescription- is that what you're getting?
Even a huge amount of research (glad you took the effort and made the commitment) cannot prepare you for every eventuality. Why not take care of problems as they come up? Though I appreciate wanting to be prepared, I believe you're overthinking right now. Good luck. Get the machine, try it out, use it 100% of the time- that's the starting line.

Please double and triple that check you get an actual Autoset and not some "we don't have any Autosets, but take this" Auto Escape.NoSleep4u wrote:I am about to get an S9 Autoset device with the pressure range left wide open.
