Snore Index

Post by do57672 » Tue Feb 21, 2012 8:04 pm

I was wondering what is considered an acceptable snore index as rated by Sleepyhead software. I'm new to CPAP but have a pretty good idea of the "ins and outs" of OSA and CPAP treatments. (stemming from tons of research from this and other forums- thanks by the way) Last night my wife said I was still snoring. I know this probably means a pressure increase is needed or maybe I'm someone who is going to snore no mater what. (my AHI is averaging 3.5) At any rate what is considerred normal as far a snore index.

BTW - Tonight I'm going to try my new nasal mask & see if that helps.

Thanks for your help.

When you look at your events graph how much time do you see clusters of snores?
All night? Short 1 hour time frame? Randomly?
I don't think there is a set "number" that points to a for sure problem with snores. I haven't seen one.
Not like there is with acceptable AHI.

Thanks guys. According to my graphs it looks like I'm snoring for the first hour or two each night with the full face mask on. I don't have the ramp or auto feature turned on, the machine starts & stops at 15cm. It might be that I start out on my back but eventually end up on my side causing less snoring. But I actually used my nasal mask last night for the first time and got some awesome results - AHI .4 (which were all clear airway apneas) & the snore index is barely there & my wife said she didn't hear any snoring so I think I will be switching to the Mirage FX for the time being.

Thanks again for your help
