Can't get this pulse ox to work

Post by mrledee » Tue Feb 21, 2012 7:31 pm

Hello everyone,

I just bought this pulse ox off of ebay that works with a pc through usb from Contec. It came with the SpO2, SpO2 review, and SpO2 Assistant software. Everything installed fine and the SpO2 program works fine. However, I can't get the SpO2 assistant to recognize the device. Everytime I try to connect to it it doens't find the device. I've tried installing just about every version of software I could find (pulseoxstore.com) and tried on different computers (windows 7 and windows xp sp2) with the same result.

The pulse ox I have is a Contec CMS-P (http://www.contecmedical.net/product_show.asp?id=96). It is an infant pulse ox that connects to the foot by a strap. It isn't battery operated or anything like that, it is just a sensor that connects USB to the pc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Have you tried disconnecting all other USB devices and then rebooting with the contec device conected and then open the SPO2 software?
I haven't seen that device before.

Its connected to a laptop, and there aren't any USB devices other than the pulse ox. I've tried rebooting too.

My CMS 50F just came with the SPO2 and SPO2 Review. Though the way mine works is its a fancy USB to serial (RS-232) adapter so it maps the CMS-50F to a COM port. In my case COM3. Then I tell, the software that I'm using COM3. So it's like a software disconnect, I'm not telling it to talk directly to the CMS-50F, I'm telling it to talk via COM3 and the device on the other end of the COM3 port happe s to be a CMS-50F.

My install was Win7x64. Needed a reboot after install.

sometimes unplugging and then replugging a computer can help. (is there such a word as replugging? LOL)

I have a different one but it came with a special usb cable. It looks just like a regular cable
but if I don't use it it just won't work. So if yours came with a USB cable it may need that one
and not a subsitute.

Too bad you didn't buy from the Pulseox store, they would stand behind their product. Jim

I don't think you will find anyone here that is familiar with that model. Most here use the Contec CMS-50E to 50H.

CMS-P
I recently took delivery of 2 of these.
i can get it to work fine on Windows XP, and on Vista, but my 7/64 PC is not accepting the same driver (Silicon Labs 6.1.0) that I believe is on their disk.
I tried updating (from Silicon Labs site) the latest 6.5 driver, but still no luck.

Am surprised Vista handles it by not 7.

I've written to contec medical systems and will repot back anything useful

Other than this, it's neat device!
