General Feedback for a "Newbie"

Post by elizabethmsmith » Tue Feb 21, 2012 2:29 pm

Home sleep test registered 121 "episodes" putting me in what they called the severe category. Got a CPAP with initial setting on 10 and set humifier on 3. Month later, overnight test showed only "14% REM efficiency" and the doc changed my setting to 12. The tech acted like this was high. She also said if I experienced a lot of bloating, belching, flatuation, etc. to let her know and the doc might lower it. Unfortuntely I was already experiencing these symptoms long before I got a CPAP, so I can't blame it on that. However, I am experiencing sore, bloodshot eyes. What's up with that?

Elizabeth, i'm also on a pressure setting of 12 and this isn't too high. My sleep lab techs told me that 10 is the norm and they usually see a range of 8-15 as normal. What kind of machine/mask are you using? YOu can add those to your member info. I still get bloodshot eyes here and there, usually from leaks with air going up into my eyes while i sleep. Do you follow your progress on any software? I've been on CPAP for about 6 weeks and check my 'stats' every few days on Sleepyhead which you can find on this site.
